Bolt pleaded, “I want to meet mate.” I argued, “We agreed to look for her and keep her safe. We are still figuring out how to get Sophia’s head out of her ass.” Bolt grumbled, “I could get her head out of her ass.” I snorted out loud because he could it just wouldn’t be nice.

Alpha Eric shot me a look. I linked him, “Bolt isn’t happy with the plan. We agreed we would find our mate and watch her for now. Just until everything is settled with Sophia. He wants to meet her though.” Alpha Eric smirked, “You let me know how that goes. I couldn’t have stayed away from Haley if someone paid me. I needed to know her, be near her, and I needed her to know me as well. The need to mate with her was something I’d never felt before.”

Great. He would know. He’d had a lot of sex. I had to look away when I remembered my Beta was one of those people he’d fucked. I was trying not to laugh. Alpha Eric and Matt just didn’t match, but then again it wasn’t a relationship.

My thoughts were pulled away from my Beta tangling in the sheets with Alpha Eric by Luna Emmaline popping in Alpha Lucas and Beta Dylan. She quickly ran off without noticing me. Beta Dylan tried to insinuate I was hiding. I was not hiding, they were hiding me; there was a difference. I noticed the second the Princess realized I was here.

I was surprised when Alpha Eric mentioned Idel Walsh not being here. I just didn’t think my mate was a water fairy Duchess. I didn’t know all about fairies, but I knew the Royal houses. I didn’t need to know the Princess well to know she wasn’t happy about my presence.

I linked Matt, “I think Beta Dylan Frost has a death wish.” Matt asked, “Why?” I replied, “He got Alpha Eric a doghouse that has a name plaque reading King Alpha Prick.” Matt howled with laughter. He must have been on our border because we could all hear him in the weird howling laughter mix he was doing.

Before anyone could comment on that the Princess came over. She was upset with her husband, and I couldn’t have that. I explained to her what happened that had led to this moment. Alpha Eric was not to blame. Alpha Lucas’ mate gasped. Bolt sat at attention, “She knows! Chase, she knows!”

I pleaded with her to tell me, but the Princess cut me off saying I’d be causing her cousin pain. What? I looked around but no one seemed to know what she was saying. My heart sank when she explained because of my situation my mate could be unhappy which would affect Duchess Emmaline. I looked at my feet as she told me to fix my personal life.

Alpha Eric linked me, “I did tell you she has a way with words.” I replied, “I noticed. I just don’t know what to do.” Alpha Eric admitted, “I’ve held off on explaining your entire situation to her because I know you wanted it between you and Alpha Sophia. I’ll tell her everything with your permission.”

I agreed, “Go ahead. If she can come up with a solution, I’m all ears.” He smirked, “Do say that to my wife sometime.” I’d have to ask Matt why. She did appear to be quite literal. She would probably say my ears were normal sized.

Neither Bolt nor I were going to take the disrespect from Hexxi. I would let the Princess talk how she pleased, out of respect that she is the Luna of the Black Mountain pack, and the Hackura Princess; not to mention my allies mate, and she was right. I knew she was, and it stung.

Hexxi Walsh, that was another story. She may be part of the royal water house, but fairy’s treat their mates like shit. She’s insulted I’m married? Fuck her. I wouldn’t take my mate forcibly or have a lover once I’d met my mate. I may have a wife because she won’t give me an annulment, but I would NEVER be with another like fairies are.

I linked Alpha Jackson, “Did she really just say they have lovers, but they don’t marry them? I am positive I could find a fairy that married someone who wasn’t their mate.” Jackson tilted his head, “I’m sure you could. They all try to bed my sister in law, and she’s mated. She doesn’t want them, they allowed her to be abused as a child, and they don’t give a fuck that it would cause my brother immense pain. You don’t have to convince me they are assholes. They are.” There was no love here for full blooded fairies in this pack.

I tried to explain my position to the women. I had no intention of hurting Luna Emmaline. For god’s sake, I just wanted some peace! I wanted my mate, and I wanted my stinking wolf to let me live my life. I was exasperated. I wanted the Princess to tell me what else I could do.

Alpha Eric was right. She didn’t have all the details, but we’d agreed he could give them to her. Luna Emmaline was studying me intently. I hoped my soul would tell her all I wanted was my mate. Alpha Eric linked me, “I’ll fill her in on the details later like we discussed.” I sighed, “I didn’t think of the fact that Sophia’s mate would likely challenge me. That’s a good point.” I could take him, but I didn’t want to fight him.

Alpha Eric stated, “My wife is good at thinking of things like that.” I snorted, “I know. Afterall, she chipped you with a GPS tracker. I don't want Sophia, or either of our mates to get hurt. Mostly mine. I don’t want this to hurt her. I was just trying to let Sophia have what was rightfully hers. If it would spare my mate pain, I’d let Sophia’s mate kick my ass.” Alpha Eric replied, “I know.”

I couldn’t stop myself from asking if it was a human party planner that worked her party. I didn’t know if Lexi Scott was a supernatural or just worked other supernatural’s. It had to be her or one of her workers.

The Princess asked me if I loved Sophia. Why do people keep asking me that? Bolt snorted, “Because she’s your wife.” I was beginning to hate that word, wife. I told the Princess I just wanted to help Sophia. She told me to make Sophia realize she didn’t need me.

I linked Alpha Eric, “I think I need your wife to meet Sophia. And what is a negative Noah?” Alpha Eric replied, “You should tell Sophia for her sake, she should let you go. Or I do fear she will meet my wife in an unpleasant way. As far as your question, Haley doesn’t understand our realms sayings. She knows we like alliterations, so she tends to mess up sayings that way. She thinks negative Noah is the saying here.” If I wasn’t so frustrated, I’d have laughed.

Alpha Lucas’ mate dressed him down in front of us all until the Princess popped back for her. Once they’d gotten back to their lesson Alpha Eric linked me, “I assume you will not spread that they fought around.” I snorted, “I haven’t even told anyone I’m looking for my mate. I’m not about to tell anyone about my allied Alpha and his Luna’s fight. Especially when it’s my fault.”

I spoke out loud. “This was all for nothing. My mate’s not even here.” I observed the two Hackura men staring at each other. Bolt chimed in, “They know.” I replied, “At minimum, they have an idea. We don’t need the Hackura on our case. We have enough problems.” Bolt huffed but he agreed.

Alpha Jackson clapped me on the back and led me inside to get some food. We walked in silence until I broke it. “I didn’t want to cause problems with their mates.” Alpha Jackson shrugged, “Emmaline is young, as is Haley. Neither are capable of staying mad too long. Well, at Lucas or Eric anyway. They will be fine. Eric and Lucas haven’t learned the art of communication yet. It takes time, and they are newbies. Molly and I still have our days where communication is a struggle. Relationships aren’t easy, they require work. Even when it’s fate.”

I snorted, “At least that’s something. I want an annulment. I just don’t know how to make Sophia accept it. Do you think the Princess is pissed off enough to pay her visit?” A pop sounded before he could answer, and the Princess and the rest of the women stood before us. She wanted to take Jackson with her to Faerie. She had to take the burden of knowing who my mate is and she would be in pain. I didn’t want to hurt her.

The list of people who were going to kill me was growing. We had Alpha Eric, the Princess, the Duchess, Sophia probably would kill me at this point except she can’t, any Hackura because of the Princess, and my own wolf. The Princess told me my mate deserved the best. Before I could say anything, she was gone. She knew and is friends with my mate. Happiness filled me even though that could not be good for me.

My mate was out there, and she’s friends with someone powerful. That was good. The Princess could keep her safe. I stared astonished as the clouds rolled in and rain began to pour around the area. It seems the Princess was unhappier than I’d thought.

The guys ran inside, shaking the water off themselves. I apologized to them all. It wasn’t enough though; I’d messed up their relationships. I had no idea this could hurt their mates. I just wanted to find mine and make sure she was safe. Alpha Eric looked raging pissed off but admitted they didn’t know that it would hurt their mates either.

This was a whole new Alpha Eric than I was used to. The Princess was really good for him. It made me want mine even more. Beta Dylan nudged me whispering, “Wait until you see that thing his face does. Splits it right open.” I stared at him, “You mean his smile? He’s going to hit you for saying that.” Beta Dylan rolled his eyes, “Neither he nor my Alpha are listening to us. You’ll have to say something about their mates to get their attention, Alpha Case.”

As it happened, I had something to say about their mates. I told him the Princess knew who my mate was. Lacy Lyons confirmed they both knew. Alpha Eric started to growl. I wanted to flinch, but surprisingly his anger was directed at a fairy trying to fuck his wife, not me.

I linked Matt, “We need to become better friends with the Conners. It’s only a slight problem because their Princess Luna is NOT a fan of mine, but this shit is gold.” Matt responded, “Next time you go there, you have to bring me. I don’t understand what’s going on. Our side of the border is literally sunshine but if I stuck my foot over our border with them; I’d be drenched.”

I explained, “The Fairy Hackura Princess is unhappy, so she made it rain.” Matt said, “I’m with Reagan. I want to be her best friend. That’s fabulous. She’s pissed so it’s raining.” I came back to attention when they said the Princess didn’t understand people flirting with her. Really?
