Without Amelia and Andrew here, everything went smoothly. Both families got along really well. Molly left first wanting to get back to her kids. Jenna left because she gave her a ride over here. I stood, “Again, I apologize for Amelia and Andrew. Thank you for having me in your home.” Isabella smiled assuring me, “No apology from you is necessary. You are welcome in our home anytime Lexi.” I smiled, “Thank you.”

I walked outside then was grabbed from behind the second the door shut. I laughed because I could feel the sparks on my skin. Chase pushed me up against the house and kissed me. This kiss promised that he’d pleasure me later. He broke apart from me, and I couldn’t help but whimper.

He smiled, “That was so damn hot. I can’t get away yet, but when I do…” He bit my ear, “You better be ready.” I shivered and not from the cold. He asked, “Do you own any outfits that I won’t want to rip off you?” I laughed, “I don’t know. I’m going to run to my P.O Box, but I’ll meet you later.”

Chase nodded, “Kincade and Kevin will go with you.” I smiled, “My car should be back soon, but if we are all going I’ll race you guys back to my borrowed car.” I laughed and took off. I heard two growls and Chase’s laughter behind me.

I made it to the car Chase had let me borrow well before Kevin and Kincade. Both came out from behind a tree with shorts on. They both put shirts on as they walked towards me. I teased, “Slow pokes!” Kincade said, “One of these days we will keep up with you.” I laughed, “Only if I’m drugged or drunk. Even drunk, I’d beat you.” Kincade snorted and they both got into the car.

I laughed as I took off. I frowned when both Kincade and Kevin tensed. I sighed. What was with them and my P.O Box? I just needed to check it. I wasn’t expecting anything. I left them in the car and walked inside.

I bumped into a guy and apologized, “I’m sorry...” The guy smiled interrupting me, “It was my fault. I’ve never seen you around here.” I shrugged, “I’ve only been here for a few months.” I tried leaving, but the guy wasn’t ready to let me walk away. He offered, “I could show you around. I’m Alfred.”

I smiled and stuck out my hand, “Lexi. I’m good, but thanks.” He smiled, “Should you change your mind I hope I’ll see you around. The offer stands. I’ll always take time out of my schedule to show a beautiful woman around.” I blushed, “Thanks, Alfred.” He was direct. Alfred smiled, “See you around Lexi.” He left.

I went over to my P.O. Box. When I opened it, I was surprised to find a phone. Normally, Heath would’ve told me to expect something like this. I only checked my box because sometimes our people would send me stuff. Obviously, I pick up my medications here too.

I turned on the phone not surprised to see the message. I dialed and listened. My jaw dropped when I heard Noah shouting, “You think you can just get away from me? I am your forever, Lexi Scott! Do you think that wolf knows you? He doesn't know you! YOU ARE MINE! You said so that first time we were together! I’ll have you again! We will be together, and Heath WILL forgive me. Sally will pay! I was going to keep you both, but she was stupid! You will both be punished! You aren’t as safe as you think you are Lexi! I’ll always be around! You will ALWAYS be mine!” That was the end of the message.

I wanted to throw the phone away and actually did for a brief second. I dug it back out of the trash can because Heath would need it. I pulled out my phone dialing Heath for the second time tonight. He answered, “Lexi, I see you are going for a record.” I sighed, “I had a phone in my P.O Box.”

Heath said, “You shouldn’t have.” I sighed, “It’s from the Troll. He left a ranting message about how I was his. He said you would forgive him, that he and I would be together. He even said Sally would pay. He said we’d be punished for doing this to him.” Heath shouted, “He will not TOUCH either of you!”

I looked outside to see Kevin and Kincade had gotten out of the car to talk to the flirty Alfred. I sighed, “I just wanted you to know.” I walked outside and shots rang out. Pain exploded in my body. I was hit. I heard Heath scream my name and I held my phone up, away from my face as I fell. It took a bullet and shattered.

My arm was burning with pain. I was thrown back when Chase’s car exploded in front of us, throwing me, Kevin, Kincade, and Alfred further away from each other. I saw shimmers start and cursed, “MOTHER FUCKER!” More demons. They weren’t after the wolves which meant I could lead them away. I needed Haley with my injury though. Thank god she was close by. With my phone dead that meant I’d have to run. Despite the throbbing in my shoulder, I stood and took off.

I could hear Kevin and Kincade yelling at me to wait, but I wouldn’t let them get hurt. They could take out the stragglers, and Haley could help me. I made a pattern they couldn’t catch onto, but I knew they were following me. I started to feel delirious, but I swore someone was flashing around behind me taking out more demons. That was a crazy thought. Were the bullets drugged?

I took a knife out of my boot and killed several as they were shimmering in on my way across the territory. I was leaving a trail of dead demons and my own blood behind me. I heard a voice yell, “LEXI, LET ME HELP YOU!” Something told me I knew that voice, but I wasn’t sure. It wasn’t my brother or anyone from Chase’s pack. Where had I heard that voice? I shook myself. I didn’t have time to figure that out.

I made it past the border of Chase and Eric’s territory in a blur. I could hear growls as I ran past, but I didn’t pay any attention. I saw Haley sitting by a lake. I screamed her name, “HALEY!” She turned then popped to me in an instant.

Another shot rang out, this time it burned so much; I couldn’t breathe. I collapsed coughing, desperately trying to take a breath. I saw blazing gold eyes. Logan was running to us with a weapon drawn. I blinked with tears in my eyes. I knew he would protect us both. Haley was screaming, but I couldn't make out her words.

I saw a wolf jump over us as shreds of clothes disintegrated into the air. Bjourn and Marcus were fighting demons. Logan killed one beside me and Haley before I felt myself get popped somewhere else. I looked around taking in my surroundings. The last coherent thought I had as I coughed up blood was, I was in the Hackura realm and all I wanted was Chase.

Chase woke up to Lexi’s fingers tracing his arm. She was so damn beautiful. I to connect with her. This morning's events were still replaying in my mind. She could’ve been hurt, and I wouldn’t have had a clue. I was furious my men were spelled away by a witch.

I kissed her putting all my feelings into that kiss. Her lips against mine were reaffirming to me that she was really here. She was fine and in my arms. I slid down her body. I was going to make her tremble and taste her until she couldn’t take it anymore. She clenched so hard around my fingers when I entered her that I barely managed to keep them moving. I couldn’t stop once I started.

I even switched with Bolt, so we didn’t have to stop. I was never going to get enough. She was everything. I wanted to spend all my time here. Listening to her sweet cries as she screamed my name. When I finally slid back up her body; I couldn’t stop myself from smirking. She was so damn captivating post orgasm. Her face was flushed, her breath coming in pants.

Her eyes locked on mine. She still had a fire in her eyes that I loved. I couldn’t deny I was aroused when she spanked me. I liked a little bit of pain in bed. She was my undoing and I never wanted to do anything else. She screamed my name and shouted that she loved me when she came. I couldn’t help but laugh because she didn’t even realize she’d said it.

Instead of calming down her declaration of love just gave me wings. Lexi was physically shaking by the time I came. Her eyes didn’t look like they could focus. I walked into the bathroom, put the stopper down, and turned on her tub. I quickly pulled it back up since the water was cold. I waited until the water was warm before plugging it again. Lexi had some bath oil I threw in.

I went back in to get her. She was still sprawled out in the exact position I’d left her in. Bolt chuckled, “Mate is spent.” I grinned, feeling far too proud of myself. I picked her up and gently laid her in the tub, only letting go when I was sure she wasn’t going to drown before I hopped in behind her.

She had no idea what was waiting for her on our vacation. I still needed to tell her when that was, but there would no schedules or phone calls that could stop me. Her recounting of the evening was actually surprising.

Vampires meeting their mates was oddly rare, it took some of them centuries. It’s as if their goddess knew they had plenty of time. Vampires say their Goddess waits for the perfect person to be born and there is no rush because her children are immortal. It’s actually not a bad theory.

I began to doubt the former Hood member over her statements. She could be trying to mess with Lexi and distract her with fake news about her grandparents so Noah could swoop in. Bolt reasoned, “If the vampire was working with Noah, they would’ve smelled us, a wolf, all over her. They would’ve backed off. They respect us as we respect them.”

He had a point. A vampire with their mate would know how precious that tie is. They wouldn’t help Noah without something major in it for them. They don’t need money, the vast majority of them are well off. I doubted Noah had some rare blood type he could share with the vampires.
