Matt raised a finger, “Yes, but we’d have killed him. Hell, ALL of the traitors would’ve died. That’s a terrible plan. Sophia might remember getting forcibly marked, but Wallace would’ve been dead when she woke up. The mark would fade, and it would be like it never happened.” Physically anyway. The mental scars would remain.
Derrick snorted, “Hammonds plans are crazy. He’s losing it.” I asked, “But why?” Matt looked at us both like we were crazy, “Really? Hello? His mate died. Do NEITHER of you read the memos I put together for you? His mate was a witch and was taken by vampires. We recently discovered his mate died because she gave birth to his daughter around vampires. They couldn't resist and drained her. The witch appeared to Luna Emmaline in some sort of weird witchy plane. That’s a direct quote from Beta Dylan. She wanted some member of their pack to take her daughter.” We gaped at him.
He continued, “Haley and Luna Emmaline saved the pup, killed the vampires, and now the pup is safely with them. They aren’t giving away the pup’s name in memos in case Hammond sees one. Seriously. Why do I even put these things together for you? You OBVIOUSLY don’t read them. It’s a complete waste of my time.”
I gaped, “Hammond has a daughter? A hybrid werewolf/witch daughter? How the HELL did he let someone take his mate?” Matt winced, “I mean I don’t know the actual answer, but he obviously didn’t have her by his side. No one could’ve taken an Alpha’s mate if they were living together, and he was in the territory.”
Now I winced. Lexi was vulnerable because I was doing the same thing. Hell, Haley was on their territory without Alpha Eric when she was taken, and she was damn powerful herself. Bolt huffed, “Mate’s brother would never betray her like the Princess’s did.” He was right. I didn’t know what witch this was, but I did know Lexi was powerful on her own. She could handle it.
I questioned, “What witch?” Matt looked away, “I’d rather not say.” I growled, “Tell me!” Matt huffed, “Emmeline Ryder.” Both Derrick and I stared in shock. Then I had to laugh, “That was a match made in hell if I’ve ever heard one. They are actually perfect for each other. How the hell did they take her?”
Matt said, “Those details weren’t given. I’d imagine only Millie can tell, and she’s not sharing from the weird plane she’s communicating from. Hammond might now know, but he’s lost his damn marbles, so I’d say him sharing how it happened is out.”
I sighed, “Alright. Shit, she was a powerful witch.” Matt nodded, “But your mate is in the Hood. The Black Arrow said it herself, they come for their own. If something happened to Lexi, we’d have their assistance to bring her home. Her brother would wage war.” I growled, “NOTHING will happen to her.” Derrick looked confused.
A knock halted our conversation. Willow entered laughing, “We’ve been trying to link you guys, but you've blocked yours out.” I bolted up, “Are they alright?” Willow assured me, “They are hammered but fine. They are running around screaming the Troll is not worthy of Sally fucking Quaid. I’m quoting them too.”
Derrick asked, “Who’s Sally Quaid? That’s a pretty name.” Matt was looking through his phone. He laughed, “You know her as just Sally, you know the one you insisted your sister guard.” Derrick perked up. Matt showed him his phone, “This is Sally fucking Quaid in the green dress.”
Derrick inhaled, “She’s beautiful. I don’t know who the Troll is, but they are right. He’s not worthy of her.” I answered, “Her string is who is not worthy. He is in love with Lexi.” I growled that last part. What was surprised was Derrick’s reply. He growled, “He HURT her that way? I’ll TEAR HIM TO PIECES!”
Matt stared at Derrick in surprise. I commented, “Ok, go for another run Derrick.” Derrick was pacing, but he nodded to me and left. Matt said, “He linked me to send him the picture. Is it me or is he losing it?”
I shrugged, “He will be fine. He’s just easily irritable right now.” Matt snorted, “He’s flying off the handle for no reason.” I pointed, “His future Luna is in danger from a psycho, and it has to be hard for him not having her here. Part of being a Gamma is looking out for the Luna. It’s why in the memo I DID read from you Beta Caleb had to get Alpha Jackson to Alpha Order Alpha Eric’s Gamma, Marshall, to stay on his quest to find his mate. Gamma Marshall wanted to come home.”
Matt wiped a fake tear away, “Oh my god. You do read my memos.” I rolled my eyes. Matt cleared his throat, “What just happened here was not Derrick being upset about Lexi. I’d just like to point that out because you clearly missed that.”
I waved my hand, “We will figure out Derrick another day. What else do you have to report, Willow?” Willow shrugged, “The Troll in question is being prank called. Repeatedly. Alpha Eric’s Fairy Hackura Princess Luna came up with a game from what we’ve gathered. They are shooting arrows at a target of his face. Random arrows have been flying around the territory. We sent Kevin to the border to let Alpha Eric know. He was going to tell your brother to be on the lookout since it was his wife’s idea.”
I snorted, “Drunk plus shooting arrows is certainly a combination. What could possibly go wrong? Must be a normal day in the Shroud.” Willow smiled, “Yes, they’ve been shouting the Troll is bad in bed. He is apparently not a generous lover. Sally claims she doesn’t know what an orgasm is. He’s never gone down on her but expects it from her. Let me see, oh and he has no power over Lexi Scott. His controlling ass can’t control her anymore.”
I growled, “No he can’t.” Matt suggested, “Look at the pictures, Chase.” I pulled out my phone. My pants instantly tightened. I yelled, “Fuck!” Lexi was in a skintight black dress. Everyone else was a blur to me. Her hair and makeup were all done, and she looked so damn sexy. Matt nudged me, “Come on, let’s call Cameron! I bet he has more details.” I frowned, “Why would Cameron have details?”
Matt stared at me before asking, “Did you not see your sister-in-law in the pictures?” Matt zoomed in on Reagan on his phone. I was confused, “How the hell did she get there?” Matt lightly tapped my arm, “Probably the Haley. Where did all your critical thinking skills go?” They were putting all my thinking into getting Lexi out of that dress and in my bed.
I sighed and called Cameron. He answered, “Chase, I’m not alone.” I wanted to groan but didn’t, “Who’s there?” Alpha Eric answered, “I am.” I wanted to throw something. I had to change what I was going to say.
I cleared my throat, “I called because I wanted to hear how Reagan’s appointment went with that specialist. She had that going on today, didn’t she?” Matt linked, “Nice save. You do know you can just call your brother. No one would question that.” Damn it, he was right.
Cameron sounded sad, “The news she got wasn’t great. She was distraught, and when Princess Luna Haley portaled into to get her and I was told where they were going; I was actually happy. Reagan was so down; she needed a girl’s night. It turned around because the Princess healed Reagan after she told them the news.”
My smile couldn’t be wider, “That was kind of Haley. I’m surprised Reagan doesn’t have you upstairs then.” Cameron huffed, “She might if she was here. She’s at some breakup party. Reagan has been drunk texting me.” I started laughing.
Cameron continued, “Apparently, the Princess used Google to know what steps were used to getting over a breakup. They have charmed ice cream that can’t melt, a TON of alcohol, and pizza that can’t get cold.”
Matt raised his hand, “I want all of that. She has to plan ALL the parties.” I laughed, “I don’t think your mate will agree, Matt. I’m not sure what steps Google lists, but I am glad Reagan is having fun. I’m also glad she was healed. I know how much that will mean to her. You’ll be great parents.”
Matt linked me, “You should bring up the flying arrows so Alpha Eric doesn’t get more suspicious about you and Lexi.” I linked Willow, “What did you tell Alpha Eric specifically?” Willow replied, “That our Beta Male informed Beta Matt that there would be arrows flying and yelling going on.” Perfect.
I stated, “My people informed me they told Alpha Eric to watch out for flying arrows. Ted and his friends are drunk. They are running around yelling things about a Troll and what not.” Alpha Eric laughed, “Our young warriors have made it into a game. They have to dodge the arrow. Our pack doctor is beside himself.”
I snorted, “You aren’t going to stop them?” Alpha Eric replied, “They can’t get seriously hurt. The arrows aren’t coming that fast. It’s something you do when you’re young and dumb. If someone gets hit with an arrow, they won’t do it again. It’s how they learn.”
I had to wrap this up, “Well, glad you know. Little brother, I can’t wait for news about my future niece or nephew to reach my ears.” Cameron sounded happy now, “Her next heat should be around New Years. Don’t expect us at your party.” I teased, “You have to host your own damn party! You’re an Alpha now.” Cameron laughed, “Goodnight, Chase.” I replied, “Goodnight, little brother.” I hung up.
Matt told me, “Ted said they had to get dressed up according to Haley. Then they sent Noah pictures of how good Sally looked. He had her in seductive poses. Haley snapped a rose for a picture and had Sally put it in her mouth and laid down on the couch. Apparently, they sent him over fifty pictures of sexy Sally. Now Ted’s mom is calling me.”
I snorted, “I hope you aren’t in trouble. Willow, go ahead and head back.” Willow nodded, “This is the most fun guard assignment I’ve ever had. I wanted to thank Gamma Derrick for suggesting me.” I nodded, “I’ll let him know.” Willow left in a hurry.
