Lexi and her friend took off running for the hotel. Balto whined as his mate retreated. The man turned around wanting to come back, but Lexi dragged him inside. It was written all over the guy’s face though; he wanted to run back to Matt.
I linked him, “She’s getting him to safety. He may have gotten into a fighting stance, but he’s obviously not a fighter.” Matt growled, “WHY do you think I was so damn angry?! He’s clearly gotten basic self-defense training, maybe. The fucker I shredded to pieces has been around a fight or twenty-five. He would’ve hurt him, and I find that unacceptable on SO MANY LEVELS.”
By that time, I’d arrived on the scene. Matt, Kincade, Kevin, and I ripped apart those remaining from the group. Kincade linked me, “That’s the man who wanted to take the Luna, but he called her Collette.” I ordered, “Shift back and get on the front of the hotel. Make sure she and her friend as safe. Not a word to anyone about who she is.” Kincade nodded and he and Kevin shifted back and grabbed shorts stashed behind a tree.
I could feel Lexi’s eyes on me as I dragged the man that was going to take her from me away from her line of sight. Matt hung back for several moments. I linked, “MATT! Get back here and help me get answers. THEN you can track the dude in a Stitch outfit down.” Matt sighed, “I’m coming. Isn’t he cute? He’s the cutest Stitch.” I shifted back and grabbed some shorts.
I punched the man in the face, “WHY were you trying to take her?” Matt shifted and grabbed some shorts as well. He grumbled, “I mean if you were going to ask a good question, what the fuck am I here for?” Someone else besides me was testy. Bolt huffed, “He wants to go to his mate.” So did I.
Cameron’s wolf, Ash, bounded up to us. He shifted and grabbed some shorts. We were going to have to stock this area with clothes at this rate. Cameron was huffing and puffing. He asked, “Is everything alright? Is she ok?” I answered, “Yes, this piece of shit was about to tell me what the FUCK he was doing trying to take her.”
Matt growled asking, “What were you going to do with her friend?” The man spat out blood, “Do you have any idea who I am?” I punched him again, “A dead mother fucker, if you don’t answer my questions is who you will be.”
Matt advised, “You should listen to him. Normally I’m his conscience, but I want to rip to you shreds right along with him this time. Cameron here runs on his level, and alas I do not see Beta Rick anywhere. Back to my question, WHAT were you going to do with her friend?” The man answered, “He was obviously going to get in the way. I’d have left him alone if he’d have just stepped away. I needed to talk to Collette.”
Matt snarled, “YOU WERE GOING TO KILL HIM?!” The man seemed to realize he’d messed up. He stammered, “You don’t even know him.” Matt growled, “HE’S FUCKING MINE!” He looked at me, “CHASE!”
Cameron linked me, “Uhhh say what now?” The man questioned, “The guy in the stitch outfit is yours? COME ON! I just need Collette to tell me if she breached our security system and downloaded our information.” I growled.
Matt yelled again, “CHASE!” I regretfully said, “We need answers.” Matt growled, “He was GOING TO KILL HIM!” Cameron shouted, “EVERYBODY JUST HOLD ON! I would just like to say one thing.” I rolled my eyes, “And that would be?” Cameron triumphantly stated, “I FUCKING KNEW IT! I KNEW you were gay.”
I was stunned. Matt and I simultaneously asked, “You did?” Cameron clapped his hands and rubbed them together, “Yes, I just knew it! You never wanted to even hold the one girlfriends’ hand that you had. You would always longingly stare at Victor Crumpet until he left to join his mate’s pack.”
Matt smirked, “He was hot.” Cameron clapped Matt on the back, “I’m glad this is finally out there now. Congratulations on finding your mate, man.” Matt smiled, “Thanks.” I teased, “Your mate who has apparently been running around town trying to find apple pie.” Matt sheepishly admitted, “I feel a little bad about that. I got hungry the other day when I was sitting at the border. I didn’t know he could smell me, or that he was a he.”
Someone snorted behind us, “I am very much a he.” I handed the piece of shit to Cameron who growled at the man to stay silent. I turned around to face Matt’s mate. The man in question was still wearing a Stitch onesie. He gestured to the dead piece of shit who tried to kidnap my mate, “You’re going to have to kill him. He won’t stop. He’s a jilted ex who wanted Lex to be sad that he ended their relationship.” He was beyond dead.
Matt’s mate taunted, “The jokes on you, Henrick. You were just a mark to her. She thought you were attractive, but that’s it. You were a means to an end.” Cameron muttered, “Oh good. That’s good.” I growled and punched Henrick in the face.
I linked my Beta, “Matt.” When he didn’t answer, I turned around and found him holding the man who was staring at Matt in wonder. A single tear slipped down the man’s face. Matt wiped it away then said, “I need a second. Ok, babe?” The man smiled and nodded.
Matt turned and ran back over to us. His gaze turned murderous when he stared down Henrick, “You were going to kill my mate, right after I found him. If I hadn’t been close enough, that mother fucker was going to kill him, wasn’t he?” The man answered, “Yes, those were his orders.”
I stared at him dumbfounded before stating, “You are an idiot.” Matt ripped his heart out of his chest. He shouted, “HE’S FUCKING MINE!” I felt like such a Beta blood right now. I pointed out, “He’s dead Matt, and your mate is fine.” Matt dropped the heart and turned.
His mate’s jaw was practically on the floor. He straightened, “Wow, you all are very cutthroat, aren’t you? I can’t say I’ve been around pack much but… wow…” Matt took several steps towards his mate who thankfully didn’t appear to be afraid. I didn’t want to have to track our Beta’s mate down.
Matt told him, “We are possessive and protective, you are mine.” He slammed his lips onto the man’s, who responded by groping his butt. Cameron linked me, “Aww….” He straightened and cleared his throat, “Never tell anyone I just say aww.” I agreed, “If you don’t tell anyone I said they are adorable.”
Eventually, I cleared my throat. With a serious effort, Matt broke their kiss. He asked, “What’s your name?” The man answered, “Ted Kates. What’s yours? Or should I just call you my brown wolf.” Matt laughed, “I’m Matt Miller.” Ted smiled, “I like it.” Matt grunted, “Good.” He kissed him again.
Cameron sighed, “We are never leaving at this rate. One answer per kiss. Jesus Christ. Matt, we are not Beta bloods over here.” I cleared my throat again, then I linked Cameron, “You need to ask about Ted about Lexi. He knows you’ve met her because of the party.” Cameron nodded. I linked Matt, “Don’t tell him about Lexi and me.” Matt retorted, “You have to tell me about Lexi and you before I can tell Ted anything.” Touché.
I guiltily replied, “I was going to tell you.” Matt asked, “This is why you’ve been so weird? You knew where she was, but you’ve been staying away?” I answered, “Yes and no. It’s somewhat complicated. I’ll explain it all later.” Matt nodded and seemed relieved. I guess he really was worried.
Cameron spoke out loud, “Why did he call Lexi, Collette?” Ted frowned, “I can’t really tell you too much. She was undercover for us. She’s good, the best we have actually. She doesn’t usually sleep with the marks, but she was Henrick’s type. The computer we needed access to required his keycard. She thought Henrick was cute, and it had been a minute for my girl.”
I bit my growl back thinking about Lexi with the dead reprobate at my feet. Cameron linked me, “Your will power is off the charts. I have a new level of respect for you, brother.” I could care less at this moment about that.
Matt linked me, “How you are managing all this, I do not know. I guess that’s why you’re the Alpha.” I was vibrating with rage, but Ted didn’t notice. He waved his hand, “Anyway Henrick ended things and wanted Lexi to be upset. She’d actually met this Angel.”
I interrupted, “An Angel? An actual fucking angel?” Ted nodded, “Raphael, he’s hot.” Matt growled. Ted immediately assured him, “Not you hot, just overall. She took up with the Angel. Not seriously though. They weren’t dating, just fucking.” I was trying not to let Bolt rip out of me and hunt Lexi down to mark her to keep her away from an angel I was considering ripping to pieces.
Cameron put a hand on my shoulder. Ted continued talking, “He went back to his realm though, so now they are done.” Thank god. I didn’t have to kill an angel. I’d have to get Javi back to work out with me to prepare to take Raphael on.
Ted clapped, “Hey, you should date my girl. You appear to friend with my st... mate. You call them mates, right?” I linked Cameron, “St… mate. What is that?!” Cameron replied, “I have no idea. I’ll ask Rick, maybe he knows.” Hopefully, he did.
Matt nodded, “We do call them mates.” Ted smiled, “Right. We could double! Plus, we are having some problems right now. There’s clearly a leak, and someone is out to get Lex. So, you could protect her. You’re already doing that, and my girl is hot. I’m doing you a favor because you have the TeleTed stamp of approval. I like this scenario in my head. It’s got to happen.”
