Haley pointed a finger at Sophia declaring, “YOU don’t understand. You LIED to Alpha Chase. You PROMISED him if he married you, you’d get an annulment when he went to Europe. Now, you’re refusing to give it to him. EXPLAIN YOURSELF! And I SWEAR to all the Goddesses if you so much as GLANCE at my husband for help before your mouth opens; I WILL go fairy hijinks on your ass.”
Sophia stared at Haley in shock. Matt linked me, “I don’t know where to look. Is it bad I want Sophia to look at Alpha Eric? I want to see fairy hijinks.” I admitted, “I kind of do too.” Sophia sighed, “I need Chase’s name to keep my pack.”
Haley interrupted her, “No you fucking don’t, but please continue.” Sophia closed her eyes, “They’d overthrow me.” Haley asked, “How? How would they overthrow you? Your Beta is by your side. You’re the strongest damn wolf in your pack, and your warriors would fight alongside you.”
Sophia amended, “Some of them would, yes.” Haley blew out a breath, “And I thought this was going to be hard problem to solve. Actually, I knew this was an easy problem to solve, you are just stubborn. Supernatural’s have that in common, but Alpha’s…You guys are on another level. Kick the disloyal rats OUT of your pack. As my friend Dylan would say, BAM problem solved.”
Sophia looked at Alpha Eric with a clear plea in her eyes. Matt linked me, “YES!” Sophia was thrown across the room into the opposite wall. The tree in the corner of my office began to grow, its branches began to wrap themselves around her.
Alfred ran to help her when suddenly he was thrown back into Blade, who wrapped Alfred up in an unescapable grip. Princess Luna Haley spoke, “I DID tell you NOT to look at my husband for help, did I not? I recall saying those exact damn words.”
She turned to Alpha Eric, “Eric, it’s not fair. I was TRYING to be nice. I made an appointment with her Beta and everything. She’s being unfuckingreasonable.” Alpha Eric shrugged, “Maybe let her go.” Haley didn’t agree, “Has she learned her fucking lesson?”
Sophia growled, “Get this thing off me!” Haley rolled her eyes, “So, that’s a no. She has not leaned her lesson. See here’s the thing Alpha Sophia, I’m disappointed because you’re letting all the she wolves down by failing to be who you are. You’re also standing in the way of the path to happiness of someone I love.” Matt’s head whipped to me.
Haley stood, “Let me be FUCKING CLEAR, you don’t want to see me mad. I say this again because clearly once isn’t good enough for you. If ONE tear, and I do mean one, is shed by Alpha Chase’s mate, you will wish you had put on your fucking big girl panties when I told you to. ARE WE CLEAR?”
Matt linked me, “What the fuck, Chase?!” Sophia looked at me, “You met your mate?!” I simply replied, “No.” Haley sighed, “He doesn’t know who she is, but I do.” Derrick cut in, “Ummm Princess Luna Haley, could you please tell us who our Luna is?”
Haley turned and evaluated him. She asked, “And you are?” Derrick answered, “I’m Gamma Derrick, Chase’s Gamma and Luna Reagan’s brother.” She studied him then said, “You can call me Haley too. As for you question, I’d LOVE to tell you who your Luna is. I only said I wouldn’t tell him.” She pointed at me. So, she’d talked to my mate. Derrick said, “That’s an interesting way to look at it.”
Haley shrugged, “Fairies love loopholes, and I want my friend to be as happy as I am. So, as soon as Alpha Sophia realizes she’s a fucking bad ass who doesn’t need a man and gives Chase the annulment she promised him; I’d be more than happy to give you her name so Alpha Chase can do Alpha things and find her.”
She paused then said, “Well, Beta Matt would probably do it, but Alpha Chase would be standing beside him while he figured it all out. Really it would be a win for all of us. I wouldn’t be in pain, my friend would be happy, and Alpha Chase WOULD make my friend happy because I fucking said so.”
Beta Alfred asked with a tone full of trepidation, “Pain?” Princess Luna Haley answered, “Yes, pain. Pain from not telling Alpha Chase who his mate is.” Matt linked me, “I have so much to say. Let’s start with never fight with your mate. You’d be so fucked. How are you?” I replied, “I’m in a weird space.” Matt pursed his lips, “Sounds about right.”
The Princess turned to Sophia, “Even YOU would be happy. I know you don’t think I’m right, but you would be. Do you wanna know why? Because your wolf would be all ‘FUCK YES, BITCH! We don’t need a man to do what we were born to do.’ Then you could be in our bad ass girl gang. We are fun! Everyone says so.”
Matt linked me, “I need to know what that is.” Same. Sophia got us the answer by asking, “What the HELL is a bad ass girl gang?” The Princess looked confused, “It’s a group of girls that get together and hang out. We have fashion shows, there was a runaway and everything. We had sexy lingerie, food, fairy amorous rituals, and we dressed up. Then we got drunk. Well, all but the Prego’s. They didn’t get drunk.” I gaped.
Derrick linked Matt and I, “Ummm I want an invite to her girls’ gang whatever day it is that she’s talking about. I want to see hot bad ass women in lingerie.” Matt snorted then replied, “Chase’s mate was probably there. She’s clearly friends with Haley.” The thought of Lexi in sexy lingerie got me hard in an instant. I growled ordering, “Shut up, Matt.”
Sophia questioned, “What kind of crazy over the top girl’s day is that? Normally we just...” Alpha Eric growled in warning. Sophia stopped talking, as all our eyebrows shot up. Haley frowned then seemed fairly self-conscious when she asked, “Did I do the girl gang day wrong, Thor?”
Alpha Eric glared at Sophia when he answered, “No, you didn’t, Angel.” Princess Luna Haley sighed, “Google didn’t have any ideas. I thought it was good.” He hugged her, “It was good. You guys had fun, and that’s the point. Isn’t it, Alpha Sophia?”
Alfred cringed at the ice his tone. Sophia stammered, “Right ummm he’s right. That’s the point.” The Princess smiled again, “Good. Because I’d have to re-do all the plans for the next one if I did it wrong.” Alpha Eric kissed her gently then pulled back, “No need for that. We all love your girl gang days.” The Princess giggled and clapped.
Alpha Jackson linked me, “He’s not joking. It’s a gift to us all. Eric might kill Sophia if Haley changed it. The Hackura had their tech guy block her Google search about girl’s days because her version is SO much better.” I laughed out loud.
Sophia pleaded, “Chase, will you please tell her to release me? This is YOUR office.” Haley sighed, “How about this? When you do something all by your bad ass self, I’ll tell the vines to release you.” She spoke in Fealish and Sophia grew a beard. Sophia growled at her while Haley flipped her hair.
Alpha Eric responded with his own growl, shaking everything in my office. Matt linked, “Man, he’s just hot. I mean he just is. Also, Molly said since that ritual thing Haley did in Faerie when you linked me my brother in law was there, she’s a little prickly in situations. They think it’s a side effect.” Lovely. I replied, “I can’t say I find him hot.”
Alpha Eric ordered, “Do not EVER growl at my mate again, Alpha Sophia. I will disband our alliance faster than you can blink and tell all my allies to consider it as well.” Matt linked, “COME ON! That was hot. He just defended her in that tone. It drips of the promise of death and sex somehow. It’s hot.” I pleaded, “Please stop. I beg of you to make me stop picturing how the two of you got together.” Matt grinned at me.
Alpha Sophia sounded very childish in her reply, “She’s disrespecting me.” Princess Luna Haley goaded her, “Then demand some respect, Alpha Sophia.” Sophia looked at the Princess stating, “I will calmly discuss everything with you, like an adult, if you would let me sit in a chair. Not held in place by a tree.”
Haley smiled and the vines released Sophia and the guard released Alfred. Alfred ran to her. Haley asked, “Was that so hard? Putting on the big girl panties is addictive, right?” Sophia almost growled at her again, then stopped.
She sat down in her chair explaining, “I need more time. What you’re talking about means I need to confirm the loyalties I have. I don’t want to cut someone off when they would’ve stood with me.” Haley offered, “I can help you with that. People can’t lie to me if I don’t let them.”
Sophia’s eyebrows shot up towards her hairline. Haley looked at her asking, “Why are you pushing back on your promise to Alpha Chase? What happened?” Matt linked me, “What if we just keep her?” I replied, “Alpha Eric would slaughter us all as he did the vampires.”
Matt sighed, “That’s such a shame. She’s a national treasure. All the werewolves should protect her.” I pointed out, “We did. We all stood with him when she was taken. I was in Europe, but everyone there was ready to come here to help him.” Matt agreed, “True. He was unhappy.”
Sophia answered, “When Alpha Chase left for Europe, I thought it was the perfect time to show my pack what I was made of, and I did. We got attacked by more rogues on our border with Alpha Hammond, but we handled it. Even though Chase’s pack was attacked too, members of the pack saw it as people seeing weakness and coming for us. A few of my pack members even tried to overthrow me. They knew Alfred wouldn’t help, but they went to my Gamma. He was one of my best friends growing up, until the moment he turned on me. I had to take him down. He’s in my dungeons, but we kept that quiet because I didn’t want people to think I was weak.” What?!
