I asked, “There was a wolf named James Bond?” Bjourn answered, “His last name was Bond. His first name isn’t James.” I laughed. Eric was not happy with Dylan. I don’t think Eric was going to be happy until he saw Haley and their kids, and I couldn’t blame him one bit.
Before their argument could escalate, I told them they were worse than women. I doubted David had updated his protections on his wards. I could probably get through this one like I did the other. Molly agreed with me.
Dylan asked about my getaway. He wanted to know if it was with my string. I told him Haley was going to know about my guy first. Since I hadn’t told her about Chase there was no way I was telling Dylan. Though he’d probably fall over if I told him I was going away with Alpha Chase. It might actually be funny to see his reaction to that information.
I told him I wasn’t dating as BA but as my real identity. Dylan was adamant it was my string. I couldn’t stop my blush. Eric raised an eyebrow at me. He didn’t know I was BA officially, but I was certain he was suspicious.
I told Dylan I couldn't tell him my real identity. He wanted Chase to join their guy gang. Well once I told Haley I knew Chase. she could figure out a way to get Chase in their guy gang without them knowing why he was there. Probably.
Dylan asked where our getaway was. I told him I didn’t know. Dylan joked that hopefully it was my string, or he could be trying to kill me. Eric used that opportunity to punch Dylan in the arm. I used that moment to get out of this conversation.
Eric said he’d get in trouble if the ward hurt me. That would be ironic since Haley was hurt by two wards and didn’t get in trouble. I told Eric I’d never seen her so happy. Dylan lamented that people kept calling Eric by his first name.
I told Dylan I liked him. He was smart and funny. I told him to call me BA, which he promptly started singing about. Eric told him I’d already given him permission. It was still hilarious Dylan called Eric God Alpha Prick. Somewhere deep down, Dylan might have a death wish.
They asked about Emmaline’s wedding. I refused to let my heartbeat give me away when Dylan said the rumor was the Scott’s ruled. We knew that was the rumor. Eric was studying me. He was going to figure it out, but I knew my secret was safe with him. I explained I took a mission so my brother could relax.
Dylan was too smart. He figured out by how I spoke about the Hood himself we were related. The Conners didn’t seem surprised, which means they’d put that together before now. Enough talking, I needed to get a move on. I took off for the house. I ran past all the guards.
I saw all the girls through an open window. I began to shoot as I made my way inside. I heard Haley say I was here. Why did she sound surprised? Of course, I was here. I told her I would be. When I got inside, Haley greeted me. I stared at her because she was taller than I was. I was having an out of body experience. This must be a Ribbon Haley. I shrieked that Haley was supposed to be tall. A different reality was actually visiting us.
She and I were friends in that reality too. Alania did say we were friends on all our paths. Holy shit this was so weird. We all began to fight together. We guarded Emmaline as she tried to turn the iron base of the shield protecting the area to water. It was apparent when she did. We all got soaked.
Aiden immediately popped in. He was excited about them being the prophesized family. Haley pointed out she knew they were. He said she’d figured it out recently. Haley and I locked eyes. Less recently than he thought.
He commented on how tall the Ribbon Haley was. Like this was a normal occurrence to see another Haley just hanging out in our world. It was so not normal. We started fighting again and David came out with a gun. My heart stopped. I tried to fire an arrow at him, but he was still protected. He fired at Emmaline. When I blinked, he was in front of the bullet somehow.
I asked, “Who the hell can freeze time?” Bexley answered, “Emmaline.” Ribbon Haley was about to explain to our Haley what a jinx was when Emmaline stopped her. I might have to tell Haley about jinxes. That would be hilarious.
Haley turned to me telling me it was time to get me out of here. She was ready to pop me to my apartment. I told her if I didn’t need to get moving, I’d have her meet him. She looked surprised for a brief moment then said she needed to know him because he made me happy. She also pointed out she had to get back here. I sighed. Soon. I was going to tell her soon.
She popped me to my apartment then snapped my bag packed. Then she snapped again, and I was in yoga pants and a hoodie. She told me, “I charmed your bag. I’ll bet you’re going somewhere warm, but just in case there are winter clothes in there too. It’s bigger than it seems. I put a LOT of skimpy bikinis in there though.”
I laughed, “Thank you, Hales. I really do want you to meet him.” Haley nodded, “Soon. You know you’ll have to come to Faerie for New Year’s Eve. It’s our tradition to spend it together. Google says traditions are important.” I nodded, “I’ll be there.” She smiled and kissed my cheek, “Have fun. Call me when you get back.”
I agreed, “Yeah, we’ll have to have lunch and you’ll have to explain this whole thing to me about the prophecy Aiden was going on and on about.” Haley snorted, “We’ll need drinks for that conversation.” I laughed, “That we can do.” Haley popped away.
I grabbed my suitcase and flashed straight to the pack house. I opened the door and smiled. Chase was pacing a few feet away from his suitcase by the front door. Matt saw me first. He muttered, “Thank the goddess.” I teased, “I think we have a plane to catch, my Alpha.”
Chase whirled and ran to me then kissed me hard. When he pulled back he agreed, “We do have a plane to catch.” He grabbed my hand and led me outside. I quickly waved at Ted and Sally. Both looked relieved to see me, albeit for a brief moment.
Chase physically put me into his car and I couldn’t stop my laugh. He sped the whole way to the airstrip. I laughed, “I thought the plane would only leave once we got on it.” Chase winked, “It won’t leave without us. I just want to leave before someone tries to call you away from me again.” I nodded, “Alright.”
We parked and Chase practically ran us into the plane. Once we’d taken off, he turned to me, “I know.” I asked, “You know what? I’m sure you know a lot of things.” He took a deep breath, “I know that you're the Black Arrow.” My jaw dropped. It took him long enough to figure it out.
Marked
Chase sat back in his chair. My mate is the Black Arrow. Bolt linked, “We knew on some level, we did. That’s what our dreams were trying to tell us.” I put my face into my hands and whispered, “He’ll never let her go.” Matt knew what I meant and replied, “Heath has to let her go. She’s our Luna. Once you mark her, she’s yours.”
I linked my dad, “Come to my office.” My dad replied, “Cameron and I just got back from a run. We will be in there shortly.” I paced. Matt said, “Chase…” I snarled, “No, it won’t matter to him that she’s my Luna. She’s too good. In fact, she’s THE best he has.”
My dad opened the door and I stopped talking. Cameron closed the door and studied me. Cameron asked, “What happened?” Derrick answered, “Lexi is the Black Arrow.” My dad asked, “Come again? We confirmed that my future daughter in law is the woman who keeps tossing me around as if I weigh nothing and saving my ass.”
Matt chuckled, “Yes, we did confirm it. She left Chase because she got an emergency call in California.” Cameron whistled, “And that’s where Luna Emmaline is.” Matt said, “Yes, and according to Beta Caleb, the Hood member with them is the Black Arrow. Actually, BA is the ONLY Hood member with them.”
Cameron quietly said, “Chase…” I interrupted, “He’s going to try to keep her from me. I bet that’s part of why he hates me. I’m taking his best asset.” My dad argued, “He’s her brother, not just her leader. He sees her as more than an asset.”
I clapped, “Exactly. He’s also a leader. Everyone knows the Black Arrow has made herself vital to the Hood. Besides, Lexi will never stop helping Heath. They are too close.” Cameron questioned, “Is that a bad thing? She will keep up her fighting skills, but obviously the months long missions have to end. There will be a balance.”
