Aiden laughed, “I know he does. He’s conflicted about it now though because my death would hurt my sister. Our brother’s death cut her deeply. Her wolf knows that it weighs on her, but yes. He does mean it when he says he would kill me. Which hurts him because he knows my death would wound my sister more deeply than our brothers. I should’ve taken that burden from her. Yet another way I failed her.” He was so expressive about his emotions I began to worry about how often Haley was a blank canvas hiding her emotions.

Aiden continued, “I think that her wolf trying to kill me would be a fun challenge. He’s quite formidable, but so am I. It would be an interesting experiment should he decide to try to kill me. I couldn’t very well just try to kill him. I would lose my sister forever, and I am not willing to do that.”

I stated, “You wouldn’t be able to kill him.” Aiden smiled, “Probably not. I would not try though so according to Google that would be a moot point.” Matt huffed, “Google again. Did fairies not know about Google until recently?”

Aiden smirked, “My sister discovered it. I have only dabbled, but it does seem quite helpful. She is INSISTING we come for thanksgiving dinner at her home because of Google and what it says. She even says she’s cooking instead of snapping some of the food. She seems to believe pie is important, as well as the turkey. I believe she intends to cook those things herself. I’m hoping I can be free soon enough to see her in the kitchen. I’ve never seen food not conjured or snapped. It should be interesting. I’m reserving judgment of this Google until then. If it is a fun time, then Google has it’s uses. If not, oh well. Again, not the point, you are all quite distracting.”

Matt pressed, “I find one of your comments very interesting. You believe your sister would never forgive you if you hurt or killed Alpha Eric, but you do not believe the same in reverse.” Aiden smiled, “As it happens, I had the chance in my sister’s life to be as important as your mate is to her, and I blew it. I am making amends. I recognize my egregious errors when she is concerned. I am correcting them. I hope to one day be considered as important to her as your mate is.” I frowned.

Aiden paused the said, “Though, I feel that could be misinterpreted. I am important to my sister now. I showed her acceptance at her wedding and danced with her. To anyone outside the Fae that would not make sense, but that is what my sister has always wanted. Public acceptance. If someone stood opposed to me, Haley would stand with me.” Which meant we would too because Alpha Eric would stand with him.

Aiden pointed at me, “Your Lexi though, Haley would beat your she wolf within an inch of her life if Lexi cried about you being married. Not even to Haley. If Haley found out she knew and cried this Sophia would be in trouble. That’s without the magic driving Haley. Ancient Fae powers are truly not to be messed with. Full blooded fairies can’t handle them. I do truly worry for my sister.” Again, his worry was all over his face.

Aiden chuckled, “There would probably be fairy charms and physical ass kicking going down. I hope that one day my sister would do the same for me, but that day is not today.” I admitted, “That was a lot of information. You’re saying you believe this is heading towards Haley kicking Sophia’s ass. Even though she was being nice at first?”

Aiden laughed, “I am rambling. As I said, this group is quiet and that makes me talk more. Yes, I do believe your she wolf is heading down a path that will get her ass beaten. I think you will need Haley’s wolf to calm her down. Prior to her meeting him her brothers could’ve, but now I think only her wolf can stop her.” Super.

Aiden added, “I personally hope he’s busy or something. That would be FAR more entertaining. Plus, I’ve learned a lot about your she wolf and from what I know, she needs an ass kicking. The young often do. Goddess knows I could’ve used one and didn’t get it. That didn’t work out well for me.”

Matt linked, “I think I’m actually in shock.” He wasn’t alone. Aiden tilted his head, “I think she will do good things though once she gets on the right path. She’s a bright one. I believe her path is that of Beta Matt and Ted’s. Not in that she likes women, but that she’s on a path not forged by traditions, and by being a she wolf in power. Just as they are on a path wolves of rank haven’t been on.” That was true.

Aiden frowned, “She just didn’t have the encouragement around her that Beta Matt did. It’s tragic for her. My sister would love to be her biggest champion. I fear that could be decades off. It might even require your mate to appeal on your she wolf’s behalf. Who knows if that will happen?” I interrupted, “She had us. Her dad had a lot of friends who were warriors in our pack that would stand with her. She cut everyone off.”

Aiden nodded, “Which is sad. Like I said, she needs an ass kicking. You all don’t treat her like you would another Male Alpha though. I don’t think that does her any favors. You should treat her how you would anyone else regardless of her gender. Maybe in a Ribbon strand everything will be fixed.”

I asked, “Ribbon strand? Oh god. You know what? I’ll find out later. To recap your solution to wanting your sister to be happy is to throw a man into her known social group that wants to have a sexual relationship with her when she doesn’t want that. Not to mention her mate is possessive with a capital P when it comes to her.”

Aiden smiled, “Exsis would never hurt my sister. I would never allow him anywhere near her if I thought he would. She has suffered enough, and I will not let that happen again.” He looked at his watch, “I believe our time is up.” I interrupted, “Wait.”

He paused, “Really? Why?” Matt linked, “Yeah, why?” Out loud I admitted, “There’s something I do not understand.” Aiden smiled. I continued, “You have been very expressive during this meeting. Every fairy I’ve ever met is expressive. I knew when you were worried, sad, and serious. Haley is constantly a blank canvas. Is that a fairy power?”

Aiden actually flinched, “No, it’s not. It pains me a great deal that she can do that. I recently came to understand she can even keep her Hackura family locked out of her feelings. That devastates me on a level I can’t express. Fairies are not meant to slip into a depressive state. Essentially, she’s created walls within herself. I don’t know if I’ll ever break her of those, but I’m going to work on her ability to hide things from her Hackura family. It’s not helping that they can’t understand her sorrow. They could discern more about it than I could. I just know she’s sad, but she doesn’t look like it.”

Matt linked, “Holy shit!” Aiden shook himself, “That was a good question, wolf. Do tell Haley’s wolf I said hello when you call him about our meeting. I’m sure he misses the sound of my voice. We didn’t speak at all the last two days. It’s quite the record for us since my sister came into his life. He may deny it, but I know he delights in our chats. He learns things. He also despises them with a passion. I love my brother-in-law and his delightful nature.” With that, the Fairy King popped out.

Matt said, “Well fuck.” I took a deep breath, “Get Alpha Eric on the phone, while we attempt to digest that information. He can’t lie so he does know what Sophia’s secrets are. SOMEONE figure out how he is so well damn informed.” Matt nodded.

He got through to Beta Caleb and told him we had an urgent need to speak to his Alpha. Alpha Eric was on the phone in minutes, “Alpha Chase.” I sighed, “You have a problem.” Alpha Eric snorted, “I have a problem? Shit. Did Haley go to see Alpha Sophia again?”

I admitted, “Not that I know of, and I think according to everything I just learned; we should be grateful for that. I just got a visit from King Aiden.” Alpha Eric laughed, “Better you than me. That man delights in ruining my damn day by withholding information or giving it.”

I said, “He gave it today. A fairy has been appointed as a liaison with the Hood.” Alpha Eric asked, “Why does that statement give me a bad feeling?” I winced, “Because the fairy is Exsis.” Our office phone speaker nearly blew from his growl.

I asked, “Have you met him then?” Alpha Eric said, “No, and I better fucking not.” I pointed out, “That seems unlikely given that he is the Hood liaison and your mate is friends with members of the Hood.”

Alpha Jackson contemplated, “What could Aiden be doing? He knows Haley would never leave you, Eric. He knows that she can’t. You have pups, you’re tied together forever. Aiden doesn’t even want her to be without you. He knows that would hurt her; he’s been making an effort with her lately. This move doesn’t make sense.”

Alpha Eric was quiet for several moments, “I fucking hate my wife’s fairy brother sometimes, but he’s smarter than I give him credit for.” I admitted, “I’m not seeing his play here. If it’s not for this fairy to be around your mate, and he claims it’s not; I’m out of ideas. Honestly, it’s not a claim. He outright stated it. My Gamma and Beta can back me up. We know he can’t lie. So, that’s not why Exsis will be around.”

Alpha Eric growled, “I believe I actually understand what my brother-in-law. Damn it! WHY is he my brother-in-law? I know what he’s doing. Aiden is testing Exsis. Arion’s betrayal of Aiden colors many of his moves now. He’s trying to see who he can trust. He’s giving Exsis and the Hood something they both want, while securing an alliance.” That had merit to it.

Alpha Eric continued, “By using Exsis he’s seeing if he can trust him. He knows with him in Haley’s orbit he won’t have to kill Exsis himself if he’s not trustworthy. All the fairies know I’ll kill for my Angel. If Exsis betrayed Aiden and made a play for Haley; I’d kill the foolish fairy faster than anyone could blink. Or her brothers would if they were there, and for some reason I was not. If Aiden told Haley Exsis betrayed him in a way I wouldn’t give a shit about Haley would kill him or ask me to, and I would.” I was silent. It was brilliant.

I said, “Should Exsis pop in our territory to see Ted, we will call you.” Eric said, “Joy.” I said, “Before you hang up, he mentioned some other things.” Eric growled, “What things?” I explained, “He’s genuinely concerned about the magic Haley performed in Faerie. He says the magic will call for her to lash out eventually. He also told me she’s expressionless often because she went into a depressive state so often when she was younger. He seemed worried she could hide things from her Hackura family about her feelings and that he wants to help fix that, so they would understand when she is not simply upset but feels deep sorrow.”

Matt added, “He did seem to believe it’s something besides the ancient fairy magic thing, which is does seem very worried about, but he mentioned your mate’s sorrow a few times.” I added, “We will help if we can.” Matt added, “Ted mentioned that Haley learned all your pack members names, faces, and occupations.” Alpha Jackson said, “Right. Luna’s get the files when they come….” Beta Caleb sighed, “Shit.” Alpha Eric growled, “What?”

Matt linked, “I know the what.” I replied, “You know you need to tell me then, right?” Beta Caleb said, “Thank you for all that information. Marcus is here. He and Bjourn are going to discuss Haley’s ability with their bond. They thought it was her fairy light that was helping her, or a power. Aiden’s observations indicate otherwise. Aiden’s next meeting is the Hackura realm. They are leaving for it soon.” Alpha Eric said, “Thank you, Alpha Chase. I’m sure we will talk soon.” He hung up the phone.
