I guess that was a problem I had in general: avoiding confrontation instead of speaking my mind. Running away instead of holding my ground.
I hid having sex from my parents until I got busted… and then I ran away to Florence.
After I went to work for the Rosolinis and my father basically told me I was no longer welcome, I never tried to contact them again.
It wasn’t because I was likeFuck you!so much as I just couldn’t stand the conflict.
Like with my parents, I didn’t see any good coming out of fighting Filomena, or Niccolo, or anyone else… so I basically just went along to get along.
For a while, that was enough.
But they say that if you don’t decide things for yourself, someone else will decide them for you.
I eventually found out they were right.

All in all, I really enjoyed my job and where I worked.
And though I might not have gotteneverysingle thing I wanted from Valentino – like the occasional tender lovemaking – I still didn’t want things to everchange.
But they did.
Everything does, eventually.
The first huge change was when a Swedish man named Lars came to the house.
He wasveryhandsome. Not as handsome as Valentino, obviously – but still plenty hot.
Lars had been in prison with Dario, Valentino’s oldest brother. Once Lars got out, Dario sent him to his family so they could give him a job.
They gave him a job, all right: overturning the apple cart.
Apparently he had been a soldier, because he began training all the men who worked for the family – and Valentino and his brothers – in self-defense and firing guns.
Overnight, the grounds around the mansion turned into a military base.
Valentino trained for hours in the afternoon and was so worn out that he temporarily stopped coming to my room at night.
Which was good in that I finally caught up on some much-needed sleep –
But I was beginning to get irritated with Signor Lars.
At least Val would still come into the kitchen in the early morning hours and fuck my brains out.Thatpart didn’t change, thankfully.
Then tragedy struck:
Valentino’s father died. A heart attack out of nowhere.
The brothers were devastated – especially Adriano, who had a soft side I’d never realized existed.
Valentino was in so much pain, I did everything I could to comfort him.
Mostly it was just holding him at night as we lay in bed, slowly stroking his hair. We didn’t have sex for almost a week…
And when we did, I did my best to drown him in pleasure so he could forget his grief, at least temporarily.
The next big change was that Fausto and Aurelio left – and took half the household staff with them.
