I beamed. "That's great. I get to have both my favorite beings nearby."
"Favorites, huh?"
"Mmhmm. I'm glad you were mis-assigned as my guardian. I doubt we would have met otherwise."
"I'm not so sure about that. You introduced yourself to me before they ever made the assignment." Onyx smirked. "Something about how much of a stud I am."
I laughed. "That was because of the privacy filter."
"Yeah, but you didn't know that at the time. I think we would've met, anyway."
Osian looked at me for a minute, then made some hand signals I didn't know.
Onyx half-laughed.
"What did he say?" I asked.
"Fated. He said 'You two were fated.' It means we would have happened no matter what. The mis-assignment only helped."
My heart beat a little faster. Really?
Onyx watched me intently. "For the record, I think he's right." Onyx turned his attention to Osian. "Can you pass the syrup?"
Osian signed something at him.
"Please," Onyx gritted between clenched teeth.
Osian smirked and passed him the bottle.
I rolled my eyes. Demons.
