I straightened and walked into my kitchen for bottled water, where I grabbed two out of the fridge. I walked back through the living room, threw one to Onyx — which he caught — and sat on the couch.
He protested, "I'm selfish, though. The more work you do if you're attacked, the less work I have to do when I get there."
I opened my water and took a sip. I leveled my gaze on him. "You mean the better shape I'll be in when you get there. That's not selfish at all. You've given me the tools to protect myself and I couldn't be more grateful."
Onyx made a noise in his throat. "Do you really want me to cancel the appeal?"
"Yes. I'll make any other guardian's life hell. I promise. You're doing them a favor."
A smile broke across Onyx's face. "I've corrupted you."
He crossed the living room to sit beside me on the couch. He set his water bottle on the coffee table.
"You look very proud of that. But nope, no corruption. I've decided, I’m part demoness." I also put my water on the coffee table.
He grinned. "Oh, you've decided, huh? Because that's how lineage works."
"It is. Plus, it makes it more okay if I do this." I kissed him.
His warm lips brushed over mine hesitantly, like he was afraid to start the kiss. He lost all hesitation when I kissed him harder and deeper.
Onyx groaned against my mouth and devoured me like he'd been waiting his whole life for this kiss. That was when I noticed how long and flexible his tongue could be — and that it was forked. I immediately made plans for that lovely surprise.
He broke the kiss and met my eyes long enough to say, "For the record, it was always okay for you to kiss me. Demoness or not. It doesn't matter and I don't care."
He kissed me again. He took his time and kissed me thoroughly, like we had all the time in the world. His hand slid into my hair and pressed me closer. He sucked on my bottom lip and teased his tongue along the seam of my mouth. His movements stole my breath away. The sides of our heads rested against the back of the couch and we kissed with no hurry for what seemed like forever.
I broke the kiss to lean my forehead against his. "What does this mean?" I asked him, breathless. I met his gaze.
"Whatever we want it to." His eyes searched mine.
"What do you want it to mean?"
He smiled. "I want to own you." He pressed his warm lips to mine. "I want to claim you." Another kiss. "I want to make you beg for me." Another kiss.
"But where does that put us?"
"Does my little one need a label?" he teased, then kissed me again. "How would you like to be my girlfriend?" Another kiss.
"I'd like that very much," I murmured. "But I thought you didn't do girlfriends or long term."
"You're my exception. I want to do long term with you."
We continued kissing, eventually moving to lie down on the couch with Onyx on top of me. He pulled my knee up so my leg hugged his hip. His hardness pressed deliciously along my slit and his weight and heat lined my body. We kissed for hours. I ran my hands through his hair and over his back. His tail came up to caress my face. Onyx seemed content with only kissing and never pushed for more.
Eventually, he stopped kissing me to stare at me for a moment. His tail kept tracing my face. He swallowed hard like whatever he was doing was a challenge. He made a growling noise and kissed me again. When he broke that kiss, he said, "You've gotta go to bed, Wynn. You have class in the morning."
I whined and kissed him again. I could stay awake all night if we could keep doing this.
Onyx broke the kiss. He groaned, "Wynn. I'm a demon. Not doing what I want, not kissing you all night, is really hard for me. But I'm trying to look out for you. You need to sleep." He kissed me one last time then climbed off me. He stood in front of the couch and held his hand out tome. Onyx looked delicious with his messy hair and kiss-swollen lips.
I took his hand and let him pull me up. He kept my hand and led me back to the bedroom. Onyx gently directed me inside the door while he stayed in the hallway. I wanted nothing more than to pull him inside and mess his hair up even more with my hands.
He smiled like he knew my thoughts. "I know you have to put on pajamas and get ready for bed so I'll bow out here. I'll come by tomorrow evening like normal. No awkwardness, okay?"
"Okay."
"Good." He gave me a quick kiss. "Sweet dreams."
