Mmm, okay. I pressed my lips to hers.

She pulled away and looked directly into my eyes. “Come back to me.”

I nodded. Iwill.

I kissed her again, then pulled my lips away.Stay here with Wynn. I’ll be back soon.

N nodded.

I settled her back on the couch and nodded at Wynn, then I transported back to Onyx.

Dried black blood streaked the soul eater. The creature healed almost immediately. How many cuts had Onyx made to create that amount of blood?

“Oh good, you’re back,” Onyx said. “Do you want to torture him yourself?”

Let us just kill him,I signed.I want to get back to N.

Onyx nodded. “Okay. You do the honors.” He handed me the scalpel.

I stepped closer to the soul eater. He still fought against his shackles.

I sliced the bottom part of his shirt to reveal his stomach.

The creature bucked against his restraints.

Quickly, I made a slice across his stomach. The cut healed before my eyes.

Well, we couldn’t have that. I tsked my tongue.

I sliced his stomach again but this time I plunged my hand inside afterward. The creature shrieked through his closed lips. The gap in his stomach closed around my arm.

I felt around in the unpleasant warmth for the stones. Finally, I felt the hardness of one beneath my fingertips. I grasped it in my palm and yanked it out.

The soul eater howled as best as he could and frantically yanked against his shackles.

One stone down, who knows how many more to go.

I held the stone up to examine it. The stone was a glowing granite, only about palm sized. Pretty.

I dropped the stone on the floor and smiled at the creature before I repeated my actions again. The creature grew more and more distressed with every stone I removed. He visibly showed weakness by the fourth stone and he didn’t heal as quickly around my arm.

How many more stones to go? There couldn’t be many.

By the time I rooted for the fifth stone, my arm covered in black blood and intestine slime, the creature had almost no strength. He had stopped struggling against his bounds.

The creature completely collapsed when I pulled a fifth stone from his stomach. All energy completely left him. The stone in my hand no longer glowed, and a quick glance at those scattered on the floor showed that they no longer glowed either.

“Hmm. He looks dead,” Onyx said. “Let’s make sure there are no more stones to be sure.”

I nodded and plunged my hand into his stomach once more. The hole hadn’t healed after I removed the last stone.

I felt around in the warmth, breaking any barriers I came across, but didn’t find any more stones.

I pulled my arm free and shook my head at Onyx.

“Excellent.”

Onyx picked up a cleaver.
