“Ryah, I need you on this job.”
“I think this is your way of getting me back on a plane.”
“Baby, we’re making business moves. I’m setting us up for the rest of our lives. In January, we need to fly to Cali.”
I took a step back. “What?”
He cupped my face. “Ryah, please?”
“Rocco, I almost lost you.”
Shaking my head, I scowled. “No, I don’t want to fly. Smitty will drive me across country.” I searched around us for the answer, then snapped my fingers when the idea hit me. “On a luxury bus.”
“Let’s compromise. We’ll fly to Seattle and in January, we’ll take a motor coach.”
My fingers splayed his chest. “Fine, Rocco.”
I felt my stomach churn at the thought of flying. In a daze, I stood as Rocco slid the sudsy sponge over every inch of my skin. The decision was already tearing me apart.
At some point, he kneeled before me. I could see the concern etched on his face. Rocco only flew short distances by helicopter over the last year. Flying on his family’s new jet was a hurdle we’d overcome together.
“Ryah, baby, look at me.” I glanced down into his tranquil blue eyes. Rocco gripped my ass as the water pelted his beautiful skin, turning me into putty in his hands.
“This is a hard pill to swallow, Rocco.”
“We’ll get through this together.”
It was like he read my mind. “I know.”
His lips melted against my stomach before he towered over me.
He retrieved a pretty gold bottle off the shelf.
“I bought a new shampoo for you. It smells like fresh cut roses.”
A chuckle released from my throat. “You know I love rose scented shampoo.”
“Apparently, I do, too, because one bottle cost fifty dollars. It was shipped from Paris the other day.”
He poured the shampoo into the palm of his hand, then massaged my scalp.
“That feels really nice, Rocco.”
For the time being, I had to put the thought of flying aside. If I didn’t, the idea would eat at me for two weeks.
“Since we’ve gone away to college, I’ve felt like our lives are just beginning. I know we’ve known each other all of our lives, but it’s something about being able to stare at you all day if I want. And fuck you undisturbed.”
The cheer team performed somersaults in my belly.
“I love when your eyes are glued to me.” I smiled.
He pressed his lips against my shoulder.
No other man would ever do. Rocco’s love was one of a kind. I wanted to bask in his love every day.
I turned, slipping my fingers through my soapy hair under the water.
Stepping closer, I caressed the nape of his neck. “I love watching you come. Those are the times you’re free. Knowing you can only come that hard for me.” I placed my hand over the pounding muscle in his chest. “Knowing your heart beats mainly...”
