I turned on my heels only to find the most beautiful woman amongst the party goers tonight. The beat of my heart rang in my ears.
Her bone straight hair cascaded over her shoulders and down her back. The tiny pink summer dress stopped mid-thigh.
She was killing me in that dress and those high heels.
“Ryah,” I cleared my throat. “You should be with your friends.”
“Is that what you want?” She stepped closer.
The whispering and staring started the second we stood, captivated by each other.
I took another swig of my beer. “Ryah, I put this party together for you.”
Her palm cupped my face. “I see that, Rocco. Everyone’s here. They’re all having a good time except you.”
The thought of throwing the beer bottle to the ground and kidnapping my woman crossed my mind at that moment.
“I want you to enjoy yourself.” Brushing my fingers over her hip, I stared over her head.
“Don’t fucking do that. Don’t you dare shut me out,” she growled. Both of her hands crashed against my face, directing my eyes on hers.
“You’re my man. We haven’t spent quality time together this summer,” she whisper-shouted over the music. Yet still careful so our conversation wouldn’t be heard by those nearby.
“Talk to me.”
I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to get a handle on my feelings.
“Please,” she begged. Something my woman never did.
My eyelids flew open. “I didn’t want to do this shit. I wanted to steal you. Take you far away from everything. I’d have you all to myself. If it were up to me, I’d keep you on a deserted island. I’d hunt for food and you’d cook it. We’d talk about the moon and the stars.”
A smile tugged at her lips. “Was that a dream?”
“It was,” I laughed.
“Seriously, I want you to have a good time. I’ll be around. Because I’m kidnapping you after this party is over. You’re mine for the next three days.”
Ryah laughed as her hands landed on my shoulders. “It’s still really hard for you to share me with others. Baby, it’s ok. I love that you want to spend all of your free time with me.”
She sank her teeth into my lower lip. I pushed my tongue into her mouth. Owning every inch. Ryah moaned into our kiss.
“So romantic,” someone stated. Cheering and shouting broke out around us.
I pulled back, smiling down at her. “Go have fun.”
Ryah grabbed my hand. “Dance with me.”
“All right, birthday princess.”
She giggled.
Ryah and I walked past one of the four cotton candy stations. We were a few days late celebrating her birthday. She didn’t seem to mind. Ryah and Luciano spent their birthday together with Melanie. I was as patient as I could be and waited to throw her a birthday bash. It was carnival themed. Funnel cakes, fried Oreos, and a host of other carnival food were served. There was a dedicated game room for those who just wanted to relax. Too bad our family trip was canceled. We’d still make the most of this weekend. I planned a nice weekend getaway in New Jersey. Tomorrow we’d spend the day at Wildwood boardwalk, playing games at the arcade and eating too much junk food. On Sunday we’d hang out at the beach.
Ryah smiled up at me as she shook her hips to the beat. Those dancing around us stared. Some people still couldn’t believe I wasn’t a single guy anymore. I twirled Ryah into my arms and moved to my own beat.
“This is nice.” I bit her earlobe.
“It is. See, we can hang out with our friends together. If I’m not mistaken, someone told me that on their birthday.”
I laughed. “You got me. Those were my words. At two we’re out.” The beat pulsated through my body.
“I’m not arguing. By that time, I’ll be ready for our alone time.”
“Good, baby.”
