“Why do you guys’ care if they are together?” Jeremiah asked.
Rocco and I couldn’t exactly come out and say we tortured them. Revenge could be the topic of their discussion.
“I’d say a little chat is in order.” Rocco returned his attention to his meal.
“Agreed.”
Our senior year needed to go off without a bang. Like literally. We had enough excitement over the summer to last a lifetime. I was looking forward to regular drama and gossip.
Genevieve leaned in. “Did you guys hear? Todd and Carla broke up.”
Our mouths dropped open.
Rocco rolled his eyes. “Nope, I don’t want to hear it. Genevieve switch seats.”
“No, I want to remain seated next to my boyfriend.”
“You should’ve thought about that before you started gossiping.”
They bickered back and forth.
A smile tugged at my lips. Yup, this was normal. I looked forward to senior year, then going off to college and walking into adulthood.
“Guys,” I interrupted, peeking at my friends.
“I hope we remain friends after high school. We have to stay in touch.”
I placed my hand in the middle of the table.
All teary eyed, the girls placed their hands on top of mine.
“We will,” Yareli sniffled.
“Genevieve and Yareli, you guys will have to visit Faith and I at Princeton. I see plenty of partying in our future.”
The girls and I burst into laughter.
“And vice versa. Come hang with us,” Yareli urged.
“Definitely,” I grinned.
“We’ll be there. When Ryah says we she means me, too.” Rocco kissed my cheek.
As much as I looked forward to my last year of high school, I was eager to attend college.
“Princeton, here we come.” I smiled.
