Elbows on my knees, I palmed my head. “Nothing, right now.” It felt like someone poured acid on my tongue. A part of me was slowly dying at that moment.

“Why would Luciano allow him to still walk this earth? I know how much he loves Melanie and Ryah.”

“Salvatore and his son Sergio had a sit down with Luciano and Agatino. Sal told Agatino to stop hunting Melanie or else he’d take him out. Sal was married to Agatino’s father’s sister. Even though they weren’t blood related, he pulled rank. Sal went over his head and spoke to Elio. Basically, he agreed with Sal that his son was not to go after Melanie anymore. I heard Sal had to calm Luciano and Sergio down several times during the sit down. They both threatened to kill Agatino. Long story short, Luciano never forgave Agatino. They still don’t get along till this day. He’d also never let Ryah see Agatino without him.”

“What about Rosetta? Why the fuck is she still walking this earth?”

“Luciano told her he’d be in Ryah’s life and she had to deal with it. And that if she thought about harming Ryah he’d kill her without blinking.”

“The whole thing still doesn’t sit well with me. Mom and Dad, you both have my word. I won’t make a move any time soon.”

I pointed at dad. “But I’ll tell you, like I told Mom, Agatino will never hold my children nor look at them. We just talked about putting down those who don’t hold the moral code in this life.” I wiped my hands together.

“I’m done talking about it.” I rested my head on the pillow.

“Get some rest, son,” Dad said.

Mom’s lips fell against my forehead. “Your Dad and I raised a great young man. We are so proud of you. Good night.”

The meds I’d taken thirty minutes ago had finally kicked in, and I fell into a deep sleep. Tomorrow I’d be ready to slit a motherfucker’s throat.
