Genn’s dark eyes scanned the room. “No, they need to hear it. If I didn’t know how to fly a plane, I doubt we’d be standing here. The plane was dropping out of the sky at an alarming rate. Luciano, Rocco did everything in his power to protect Ryah.”
I slowly sank into the metal folding chair.
“Truthfully, he needs to rest. So, until I pin point who did this to us, I recommend he sleeps for a couple of days.”
“Genn, I’d like you to talk to Batch. His family has worked with ours since the beginning,” Galil stated.
The tall, stocky man with a crew cut and snake neck tattoo stepped forward. “Whatever you need. I’ll help you find her,” Batch growled.
Genn nodded.
“First, tell us what you uncovered so far,” Dad urged.
“Alfonso had four children and Marty had two. Marty’s children aren’t in the family business. Alfonso took care of his brother’s children until they married and started families. Marty’s daughters married men who weren’t in the life.”
“Right, great uncle Alfonso’s son and daughters run his businesses today,” Galil added.
“Did anything ever stick out to you about either of those families?” Genn asked.
Galil rubbed his brow. “Alfonso’s kids didn’t associate with us because my grandfather, then my father ran the underworld.”
“Maybe that was a trigger,” Luciano said.
“Galil, did either of Marty’s daughters come to you and express interest in avenging their father?” Genn asked.
“No,” Galil answered.
“And I hadn’t heard anything either,” Batch added.
Galil threw his hands up. “If they were pissed about what happened with their dad, they never mentioned it openly.”
“I’m looking into Marty’s grandchildren, Merlona, Bettina, and Kat. Do you think your dad could’ve overlooked some pinned up aggression his children may have had? I mean shit, Marty hated Talli. Could Marty have gone home and complained in earshot of his children Volena and Pannola? Later in life maybe they expressed their fury to their children, sparking an uproar in them.”
“Great Uncle Marty was a crazy motherfucker. Alfonso should’ve put him down,” Galil snarled.
“He fucked up our livelihood. Even with all the money that was given to us by your family.” He pointed to Dad. “We were limited to what we could do, moving forward. That’s why I wanted to put that bullshit aside and create a partnership.”
“Now I’m thinking because you said fuck the rest of the family, they are targeting all of us this time,” Luciano said.
“Why because he refused to do the right thing?”
Dad sat back in his chair. “That was his brother. He couldn’t put him down.”
“And look where that got us.” Galil’s heavy fist came down on the table.
“He belonged in an insane asylum, but you can’t put a made man in a place like that. It’s no telling what skeletons would fall out of their mouths,” Eduardo stated.
“Nevertheless, I agree with you, Galil. Alfonso should’ve put his brother down. I’m just stating the obvious that he didn’t. That’s why we’re here now.” Dad gulped the remaining contents in his glass.
“Batch and I will tear apart the grandchildren’s lives. See if we find anything.”
“Thanks, Genn.” Dad nodded.
“We’ll find them, Urbano,” Genn assured.
The men retreated to a bar across the room and huddled around a laptop.
“Rocco, Gian, and Bosco, will work close together to bring this woman and her team down.” Luciano’s eyes fell over the other bosses’ faces.
