CHAPTER FOUR
ROCCO
THE RIDE FROM VIRGINIABeach to Philly was comfortable. Mainly because I held Ryah in my arms, in a bunk. The painkillers the doctor prescribed helped, too. Waking to her beautiful face always gripped my heart in a good way. Ryah was mine. Leaning on my elbow, I traced my fingers over her lips. They kicked up at both ends. Her eyes fluttered under her eyelids. Was Princess dreaming about us? She had to be.
The bus rolled to a stop. Ryah’s eyes popped open.
“Wait here,” I ordered.
I hopped out of the bunk and sauntered toward our men.
“Where are we?” I peeked out of the large tinted window, taking in our surroundings. There were two black Suburban’s parked beside us. Agosto loaded Jennie into one of the trucks.
Genn nodded to the door. “We’re at the drop off point. Smitty, Art, and Ercole will take Ryah to her safe house and Agosto and I will drive you to the meeting with the bosses.”
I nodded.
“Let me check the truck,” Art said before dipping off the bus.
Ercole gathered his belongings and followed Art.
Hands slid around my waist. This woman didn’t listen.
“Ryah, I told you to stay put.”
She slipped in front of me, staring up into my eyes. “I’ll wait in your arms while Art performs his checks.”
This stubborn woman had to do things her way.
“Baby, that’s flattering. But we almost died yesterday. I’ll continue to protect you whether you want me to or not.”
My thumb swayed over the cut on her face.
“Kiss me.”
Ryah was still upset. She hated that she couldn’t fight in the war. I knew telling her she had to stay at the safe house didn’t sit well with her.
No way could I resist my woman. Palming her head, I shoved my tongue past her lips and owned her mouth. Her moans penetrated my ears, and my hard cock grazed her stomach. I hated releasing her lips.
“Look at me and listen to my words. Ryah, I need you to hear me.”
Squeezing her curly mane, my eyes bore into hers.
“I’m listening, Rocco.”
“I will visit you as soon as I can. I’m asking you not to sneak out. I’m asking you to trust your man.”
Her green eyes softened.
“When we capture our enemy, you’ll be by my side.”
“What?” Art barked.
I raised one finger, never taking my eyes off of hers.
“Ryah, do you trust me?”
“Yes,” she breathed.
