CHAPTER SIXTEEN

ROCCO

SIX MONTHS LATER, AFTERwe were introduced to Sabrina, Levi proposed.

Ryah was over the moon, excited for them. I believe she thought if I saw they were getting married, I’d stop looking into him. And realize he didn’t have feelings for Ryah anymore. See how I added anymore. Ryah had to know Levi had feelings for her. Alejandro noticed it. Pretty sure Faith saw it, too. Ryah wouldn’t bring it to my attention because she was trying to spare Levi’s life.

Yeah, his proposal was total bullshit.

We still hadn’t uncovered anything on Levi. He was doing well for himself at Matrix bank. He climbed the ladder rather quickly. He was a software developer making seven figures. Far cry from where he’d came from. On paper, he looked perfect. A little too perfect. I was determined to uncover his secrets.

In the meantime, I focused my efforts on my family’s business and keeping my woman happy.

At Levi’s engagement party, he and Ryah were alone at the bar. His eyes poured over her pretty face like she was the true sunshine in his life.

I got you. Fucking bastard.

The band played a soft ballad on stage. There was light chatter from the guests around the exquisite ballroom.

Someone looped their arms around mine. “He respects her. Loves her like a sister.” Sabrina smiled, staring at them.

“Levi said she pulled him out of a state of depression. He thought about killing himself. But Ryah always invited him to hang out with you guys. He felt like family amongst you all. He said she’s the reason he fell in love with me. I reminded him of her.”

My blood was boiling under my skin. The asshole told her that and she believed him?

This chick must’ve really wanted to settle down with a successful businessman. Because that wasn’t a compliment, he paid her. He told her she was a cheap knockoff to what he couldn’t have. My fucking woman.

“Congratulations, Sabrina.”

“Thank you. We’re having a summer wedding in Barbados. I plan to ask Ryah to be one of my bridesmaids. It will make Levi happy to have her in our wedding party.”

My fists curled at my sides. “Please excuse me, Sabrina.”

I ambled over to Levi and Ryah.

“Rocco, have a drink with us. I’d like to propose a toast to the woman who helped me live again.”

Ryah wrapped my arm around her waist. “Baby, are you ok?” Her brows rustled together.

“I’m fine, Princess.” I captured her lips in front of dickhead. His lips tightened in my periphery.

Good.

She pulled back, green eyes sparkling. “I want all of that later.”

Ryah was openly affectionate, I noticed, since Levi had a woman. Before, she barely kissed me in front of him. She didn’t want to crush his feelings or make him feel like a third wheel. Who gave a fuck? I didn’t.

Sabrina fell into Levi’s arms right on queue. I was ready to barf.

We each picked up a glass of champagne and held them high.

“Here’s to lifelong friendships,” Levi boomed.

Not a fucking chance I’d see that motherfucker longer than I had, too. As soon as they tied the knot, we were cutting them off rather Ryah wanted to or not. Feeling sorry for the asshole was over.

“Hold on, we’re missing Faith and Alejandro.”

I waved them over.
