CHAPTER TWELVE
RYAH
THE AQUA COLORED DRESSswayed against my thighs as I danced to the pulsating beat. My fingers traced over the tiny straps tied around my neck. The smile lifting my cheeks felt infectious. Everyone around me laughed and danced to the banging song.
Genevieve, Faith, and Yareli wore scantily clad dresses, too.
“Give it up for the birthday boy Rocco,” the DJ shouted over the loud music.
My girls and I thrusted our fists in the air. “Happy birthday, Rocco!” we yelled.
The birthday boy stood in his favorite spot. He always leaned against a wall or pillar close to the dance floor. He had to be in control. And have a visual of the front and back entrance.
Girls greeted him in passing. His eyes fell back on me each time. He looked especially good tonight. The navy polo clung to his muscled frame. The hem of the dark denim jeans rested behind the tongue of his expensive red high-top sneakers. His jet-black strands swayed along his shoulders as he bobbed his head to the beat. He held the beer bottle high and flashed the sexiest cocky smile.
Fuck, I felt my nipples harden against the thin fabric. His blue-eyed gaze darkened as he took me in. Rocco brushed his thumb across his lower lip. “Come here,” he mouthed.
I shook my head and turned my back to him. If I let Rocco have his way with me, he wouldn’t enjoy his party. He’d keep me held up in one of the ten bedrooms. His father rented the castle for his birthday bash. Only rich people burned money on places like this. I must say, everyone was psyched about this party for a month now. If you didn’t get an invite. You weren’t prestigious enough to attend.
“Ryah,” a familiar voice struck my ear drum. His rich musk scent swept up my nose.
“Hey, Bosco.”
He stepped in front of me, grabbed my hand, and spun me. “You look beautiful tonight.” His big emerald eyes poured over every inch of me.
“Thank you.”
He lowered our hands but didn’t let go.
“Bosco, I’d like to introduce you to Genevieve, Faith, and Yareli.” I tore my hands out of his grip.
“Hello ladies.”
His angular jaw, olive complexion, and kissable lips kept my friends’ drooling.
Yarlie leaned into my ear. “Damn girl, do you have all the gorgeous guys wanting to see you?”
I chuckled and shrugged. “Not sure what you mean, Yarlie.”
She bumped my shoulder. “Sure, you don’t.”
Bosco picked up my hand and twirled me into his arms. “I hate you chose Rocco, Ryah.”
“Are you trying to get yourself killed?” I wiggled out of his powerful arms.
Waves of people danced around us. Heat rolled off their sweaty bodies. I stood on my tip toes craning my neck trying to see Rocco. I couldn’t see him.
“I’m not worried about him. Besides, he’s kicking it with Gian.” He winked.
His short spiky hair stood perfectly on his head.
“Bosco, I always had a crush on Rocco. I just wasn’t sure I really liked him. He’s kind of a cocky asshole.”
Bosco chuckled. “That he is.”
I stared up into his eyes. He was all muscle. Bosco had a smile that could make most women fall at his feet.
“We can’t ever be more than friends, Bosco. I told you that months ago,” I sighed.
