“Can’t believe it took you and Rocco so long to become a couple,” mom instigated.
“Yeah, it takes some getting used to. He’s so pushy.”
Dad smiled. “I heard he didn’t give you much of a choice to become his girlfriend.”
“Exactly, he told me I was his girl, but later he softened up and asked if I wanted to be with him.”
Yup, after I made her come a couple of times.
I raised my chin at dad. “We handled that school problem.”
“The doctor’s probably sewing his finger back on as we speak,” Ryah chuckled.
Mom shook her head. “You two are quite the pair,” she said, with a thick Jersey accent.
I wrapped my arm around Ryah’s neck and kissed her temple. “We sure are. Oh, my woman got blood on her shirt so I gave her mine.”
“Look, Urbano, we’re raising a gentleman.”
“Yeah, I can see that,” he snickered.
“Thanks for the invite to dinner Sunday.”
“Ryah, it’s our pleasure. But it’s not like you haven’t been here for dinner before,” Dad stated.
She squeezed my hand. “I know. I’ve been here a thousand times. This feels different though.”
“I think our parents are making the situation weird now that we’re together. Everyone has to relax. Ryah and I are fine.”
“We should study. Good night.” Ryah took a step back, grinning.
I tugged her hand as we walked up stairs.
Ryah knocked on Breann’s door.
“Hello.”
“Hey, Ryah. Can’t believe you’re with my brother now.” Lying across her bed, she leaned up on her elbows, smiling between us.
Ryah sat on the bed next to her. “What are you watching?”
“Austin & Ally. I just finished my homework. I’m only allowed to watch one TV show during the week.”
“I’m sure it’s for the best. Did Rocco tell you I’ll be over for dinner Sunday?”
Breann rolled her eyes at me. “No.”
“After dinner, do you want to play Roblox?”
Her eyes brightened. “Yes.”
Ryah hugged her tight. “Talk to you later.”
“See you, Ryah.”
She bounced off the bed and fell into my chest. I inhaled her hair as we walked toward my room.
“I’d say making you my girlfriend has been the best decision I made. My family loves you.”
