Scarlet jumped off the counter and met my gaze in the mirror. “Ryah, you naughty girl,” she snickered.
I flashed a wicked grin.
Scarlet turned and slammed her boot into Emily’s back. A shrill released from her throat. It was so brutal, I cringed on impact.
“My cousin told you it was over. That was your queue to disappear. This was a subtle warning. Next time, we’ll send pieces of your body to your parents weekly.”
She continued to the door.
Emily held herself, shedding new tears.
Two figures stood in my periphery.
“Ryah, it’s time to move. The bell will ring in ten minutes.”
I straightened my clothes, then cleaned the blood off my black stilettos.
“Ok.” I met Rocco’s Nordic gaze.
He stretched his hand toward me.
“You sent your female pit bulls to deliver a message for you,” Emily laughed through a cough.
“I didn’t. Ryah planned to beat your ass.” Rocco pulled me against his hard chest. Being in his arms sparked shivers up my spine.
“Don’t ever approach Ryah again. Next time, I’ll send my cousin to remove you from existence.”
Scarlet gripped his shoulder. “You guys get out of here. Rocco, I’ll text you later.”
“Scarlet, thank you.”
“Ryah, it was a pleasure.”
Once outside the restroom, Rocco smothered me in his arms.
“We can take off early.”
Nose nuzzled against his chest, I inhaled. “No. I invited Lysa to sit with us at lunch.”
“I don’t know who she is.” His voice rumbled in his chest.
“Fine, after we’ve finished our homework this evening, we’ll have dinner at your mom’s restaurant.”
I glanced up at him. “Now that sounds fabulous.”
He kissed my nose, then captured my lips.
Rocco pulled back and stared into my eyes. “Every moment with you is perfect.”
“Even when I give you shit?”
“Yup, you don’t scare me, Ryah Conti.”
