I stood. “Jennie, you better start talking before Genn makes you sing with Ryah’s help.”

She blew out a breath. “Upon arriving at the airport, a man climbed into my car. He told me I was to get on the plane and act like everything was normal...” Her face dropped in her hands.

“...or my daughter who’s away at college would meet her untimely demise.

She peeked at me through her splayed fingers. “I’m sorry, Mr. Andrisani. I’d die to protect my daughter,” Jennie cried.

“Good afternoon, Mr. Andrisani.”

A woman’s voice filled the plane.

An uneasy feeling came over me as I glared at the TV screen. This couldn’t be good.

I stared at the queen’s head, hiding this person’s real identity. “Welcome to your one-way ticket to hell.” The red curls danced on their head as they laughed.

I felt the blood drain from my face as I gripped Ryah’s hand. Agosto and Ercole stood and stared at the screen.

“Today’s shaping up. Two heirs in the same place. I thought I’d have to wait to kill the Conti in Philly. But luckily, she had to be with her brooding boyfriend. Young love is so sweet.”

“What do you want?” I bit out through gritted teeth.

“Years ago, your great grandfather took something from me.”

Talli’s shit came back to bite us in the ass.

“Now it’s time to take the next heirs set to rule the mafia underworld.”

My heartbeat raced in my chest. Felt like my heart would explode at any minute.

“We gave the De Bellos’ territory and money. We had to start over.”

“How hard was that now, really? Elio Conti was always there for his best friend’s family, the Andrisanis.”

“Talk to my father about territory. We don’t have anything to do with that,” I growled, nostrils flaring.

“It’s bigger than that. We want to end the Andrisanis and the Contis so we can have a stronger hold in Philly.”

My insides felt like mush. I had to hold it together, even though it looked like we’d meet our early demise.

“You plan to have Bosco run, Philly?”

Deep, hearty laughter left the queen’s mouth. “No. I have a true king picked out to run the underworld for the DeBellos’.”

Shit, who is she talking about?

“You don’t have to kill us.”

“I know,” she shrugged. “But it will help me sleep peacefully, knowing you two are dead. Goodbye.” Creepy laughter filled the plane before the screen went blank.

The plane dipped at an alarming rate. Our bodies smacked the edge of the tables in front of us. Masks fell from the ceiling.

“Ah,” Ryah screeched in pain.

“Fuck,” I groaned.

“Everyone, there are oxygen masks and life vests in the emergency compartment along the walls,” I yelled.

I pressed the button, lowering the tables into the floor.
