“Come on, Ryah, let’s get cleaned up.”
“Wait.” She leaned over and grabbed the Glocks.
“Now, I’m ready.”
I scooped her up into my arms. “You can take a shower first.”
Ryah hugged me tight as I carried her into the bathroom.

An hour later, we emerged from the bedroom, just in time for lunch. Felt good wearing my own clothes.
Yeah, I know. Spoiled rich guy.
“Welcome back, Casanova,” Genn mocked.
Agosto burst into laughter a few rows ahead.
Ercole didn’t say a word. Maybe he was asleep.
“You’re a funny guy.” I pointed at Genn on my way to our seats.
Ryah threw her bag next to mine on one of the two seats facing us.
I hit a button on the wall. Two cherry wood tables emerged out of the floor.
Jennie rolled the cart beside us. “I have hoagies and cheddar broccoli soup. Ms. Conti, which would you like?”
Ryah rubbed her hands together. “I’ll have the soup.”
“And for you, Mr. Andrisani?”
“A hoagie please,” I stated.
Jennie placed a spoon and a bowl of soup on Ryah’s tray.
She didn’t waste time stirring the soup.
I met Jennie’s gaze. Her hand shook as she sat the sandwich in front of me.
“Ryah, don’t eat the soup.”
Her eyes widened. “Why?”
“Jennie, you’re a little nervous today.” I flashed a witty grin.
“Your father said this might be a tough ride. He said someone tried to kill you.”
“Genn, did you hear that?”
“Yeah.” He appeared out of thin air.
Jennie almost jumped out of her skin.
“Genn, would my dad tell anyone who wasn’t in our camp what’s going on?”
“Nope.”
