“One thing you’ll have in common with the men I’ve killed. You’ll die at the hands of a heartless motherfucker.” An evil smile crept across my lips.
Genn and Agosto stepped out of the way. It was time for black out mode.
I chopped off his other arm right above the elbow. His muffled cries were barely audible because I tuned him out. My thoughts wandered to my woman. The hungry look in her eyes when she stood before me in my room last night drove me fucking crazy. Instead of lying on the beach next to Ryah, I was here murdering this dumb fuck.
“You crossed the Andrisanis and the Contis. Now you’ll pay for that betrayal with your life.” A dark chuckle rolled from my throat.
Blood splattered all over my body the harder I swung. I didn’t stop until several parts of his body laid on the floor around me. I staggered back, chest heaving. Taking in my handy work. “I’m almost done,” I muttered.
Holding the machete sideways, I swung. The sharp blade sliced through his neck. Luther’s head hit the floor with a loud thud.
I turned to my men. Their wide eyes stared back at me.
“I’m starving. Anyone else hungry?”
They didn’t respond. I shrugged. “Let’s clean up. I’m hungry for food and my woman’s pussy.”
I knew they were shocked to hear me speak of Luciano’s daughter so loosely. Fuck it. They’d get used to it. Ryah was mine.
Hours later, I pulled a large, heavy-duty suitcase behind me toward the back door.
“Ercole, how are we looking?” Genn asked, over the earbuds.
“All clear.”
We walked out of the back door. Darkness swallowed us. Agosto closed the door behind us.
“Torch it,” I ordered.
“On it,” Agosto responded.
A whistling noise sounded in the air. “In coming,” Genn yelled.
He gripped my shirt, pulling me away from the house. We ran as fast as we could. I held the handle of the suitcase like my life depended on it. The blow back from the blast pushed us further up the property. My ears rang as my body slammed into the ground.
Agosto shook his head. He grabbed his gun out of his holster, pointing it to the sky. His eyes scanned our surroundings. He looked paranoid.
“We have to move,” Genn stated with urgency in his voice.
We ran to the outskirts of the property. Car alarms sounded in the distance. My heart banged in my chest. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared. The first person who crossed my mind was Ryah. The thought of never seeing her face again shook me to my core.
We then ran down the street to the truck. Good thing we left it hidden. Genn still checked for explosives.
“Stand back.” Genn wasn’t taking any chances. He pressed a button on the keypad and the engine turned over.
He blew out a breath, then nodded toward the trunk.
“Let’s load up the package.”
Genn and I hurled the suitcase inside.
Sirens sounded in the distance.
We hopped into the truck.
“Get us out of here, Agosto,” I yelled, from the back seat.
He turned the corner right before the police plowed down the street toward Luther’s burning house.
