Slender arms wrapped around my neck. My heartbeat raced. The familiar scent I loved crept up my nose. “Surprise, Rocco.”

Gripping her arms, I turned and kissed her lips. “You said you couldn’t come over.”

“I know. Dad let me ride with him. Which is rare.” Ryah cut her eyes at Luciano.

Hands stuffed in his gray slacks, he glared at me. If I was his enemy, I would’ve taken that as a death glare.

“Hello, Luciano.”

“Rocco.”

One day the guy would love me like a son again. He knew I liked Ryah. But our relationship changed once I acted on my feelings for her.

“Ryah, good to see you,” dad smiled.

“Good to see you, too, Urbano.”

I pointed to the chair beside me. “Ryah, have a seat.”

She shook her head. “Rocco, I’ll see you after the meeting.”

My brows lowered. “Why can’t you stay?”

“You know why. My father doesn’t want me to know anything about your job. He thinks I’ll find a way to sneak away and help you.”

I stood and intertwined our fingers. “That wouldn’t happen. I’ve already told your father I was going on the job alone.”

I met his seething gaze.

“Rocco?” Ryah tugged my hand.

I stared down at her.

“Walk me to the door.”

“Uh, huh.” Still clutching her fingers, I looped my arm around her neck as we walked across the room.

“Where’s your mom?”

“Probably in the theater.”

We halted at the door and I turned her to face me.

“I’ll talk to her after I play a game with Breann.”

I leaned over, capturing her lips.

“Don’t argue with him. You’ll draw out the meeting,” she stated against my lips.

Ryah knew I was ready to explode. Her hands gripped my neck. “Rocco, your neck is hot and turning red. Please let it go.”

“I will. I’ll find you when we’re done.”

She exhaled. “Ok.”

I watched her tight little ass in her denim jeans as she walked down the hall. Reluctantly, I closed the door and returned to my seat beside Luciano.

Dad removed his platinum cufflinks and settled into his chair. “All right, let’s get down to business. First shipment of guns and drugs went missing last month. The second disappeared last week.”
