“You’re a naughty girl,” I growled.
“Let me go, Noah.” Her chest rose and fell.
“You never pull a gun on someone unless you plan to use it.”
“I needed you to know I’m not that kind of woman.”
“What kind of woman is that?”
“A damsel in distress. If you think I’ll sleep with you so you’ll repair my home, you’re mistaken.” She wriggled.
My brows rose. “Hope, listen, I don’t expect anything but your help. I didn’t lay a hand on you and wouldn’t ever unless you wanted me to touch you.”
A smoldering scowl took her gorgeous face. I couldn’t wait to crush her lips.
“Release me...” She inched her face toward me. “...Grinch.”
My eyebrows danced. “That I am. Does that mean you aren’t cooking?”
Hope rolled her eyes. “We had a deal. After you unhand me, I will.”
I lifted off of her. Doubt she saw my cock imprint through my green thermal pants.
Hope leaned over and snatched the Glock off the nightstand.
“Where are you going with that?”
Hopping out of bed, I was on her heels.
“Next door to cook. If I see that wolf, I’ll blow his head off.”
My eyes widened. Who is this woman? Right now, she reminds me of a cross between an assassin and Ms. Christmas. Total fucking badass.
“Tell me what you need. I’ll grab everything.” Blocking the front door, I stared at her.
“Noah, thank you for letting me stay.” She ran over to the fireplace and slipped into her socks and elf slippers.
“I live next door. I’m fortunate you were here, but I can’t depend on you to keep me safe.” Hope stalked toward me.
“That’s exactly what you can do.” I slipped my fingers through my dark brown hair.
“Listen, I won’t sleep on your sofa. But we’ll order beds for our cabins. I’ll sleep in one of your guest rooms or you can sleep in one of mine. I need to make sure your safe.”
“Not necessary, Noah.”
“Fine, if you won’t let me in, I’ll sleep on the porch clutching my rifle in a sleeping bag.”
She laughed. “No, you won’t.”
“Don’t let me in and you’ll see.”
Hope cocked her head to the side with one hand on her hip.
“Just tonight, Noah.”
I stepped aside, dipping into my boots before trudging through the snow behind her.
“It’s freezing go back in the house.”
