Page 67 of My Karmic Destiny

Maybe my karma is coming back to bite me on the ass. I never really deserved any piece of her or the happiness she brings me.

I wasn’t a great guy before Instant found me. And for the job, I had to continue being a dick. I didn’t kill anybody, but what does that matter if I just went through life like I was owed something? I believed my shitty childhood gave me a pass to do what I wanted. To claim something for myself.

Is that what I’m doing now? Did I just fuck over Dante and try to take his toys because I wanted what he had?

No. I wanted her before they hooked up.

Tessa intrigued me from the first moment I caught sight of her.

A light shone around her like a beacon. A call home.

Whatever she needs, I’ll make sure she has it. Even if that means I need to back off… for now. I won’t ever completely give up.

“Whatcha doing?” a sultry voice asks.

I snap my head up to see Tessa standing at the garage door to the house.

“You want the truth or a white lie?” I ask and pull my hand through my hair, since it’s probably a mess. I’m falling apart here.

“The truth,” she states simply.

“I’m thinking about you. Wondering if I’ve fucked it all up by pushing you into dating.”

“Why would you think you could push me into doing anything?” Her hands land on her curvy hips and she gives me a challenging look.

I frown. She isn’t the type to be bullied… especially not about something so important.

“You’re right. But then why have you been gone lately?” I step out of my car, but stand beside it. I don’t move closer, giving chase and have her run, not when I have her in my sights.

“Things have been busy at the job.” She shrugs, then saunters over to the car and runs her hand down the front fender, like she’s caressing a lover.

Something feels slightly off, but I can’t place what. Watching her makes my cock perk up.

“So busy that you can’t come by the mansion at all?” I move to block her from moving past me.

Her hand sinks into my hair, nails grazing my scalp. I close my eyes, luxuriating in the lovely sensation.

She fists my short strands on top and tilts my head down, forcing my mouth to meet hers.

I’m a bit taken aback by her aggressiveness, especially after her absence, but I’m so desperate for her attention, I don’t resist, fighting my natural instincts to dominate.

Her lush lips make contact.

Again. That niggling feeling that something isn’t right hits me square in the chest. Harder this time.

Internal alarm bells go off, I’m missing something. But what? I can’t make sense of it.

With my new Karma powers, I can sense a lot more. Even more than when I was working a job for Instant.

My instincts know this isn’t a mirage or a glamour.

This is Tessa.

But something has happened. Did she shut down? Was there an incident at her job? Is she injured in a way that I can’t see?

I break the kiss by turning my head. “Tessa?” I pull from her hold and angle my body away. “What’s going on?”

She huffs and spins on her heel, storming off. “If you don’t want to give me some sugar, then I’ll find someone else in this house who will.”
