Arden shoves his way toward me. His huge palms hold my sides where the wounds are. “Branden? Seal her up. I’ll do the rest.”

Branden frowns and clears his throat. “Landis, can you help her notfeelthis as much?”

Landis nods. “I think so.”

His shadow slips into my mind, and I feel Branden lick my side, but it doesn’t send me into instant arousal. But that also could be because I’m just fucking exhausted.

“Let’s get the faerie’s home and recuperate,” Quade says.

My eyes flutter closed as I snuggle into Arden’s hold. His healing magic washes away the pains. I hear Branden chanting to open a portal, and before I slip into unconsciousness, I almost believe I hear my mother’s voice.

But she wouldn’t be that stupid, would she?

ROURKE

Ican’t believe what just happened.

My father’s last act was to attempt to murder me.

But now, he is no longer a threat to my mates—my coven.

As I’m sprawled on the ground, bleeding out, all I can think is that I don’t want to leave Branden, and I didn’t get a chance to make things right with Shayla.

I worry that I’ve left them without anything. I should have claimed them both so they could inherit my fortune now that my father is dead. Even if he wasn’t, they could have used my trust fund to live extremely comfortably for the rest of their days.

Just another way that I fucked up.

Shayla must be gravely injured too. She has to be after how my father held her and tossed her around.

I call to her, but I cough up blood instead.

I feel her presence all around me, like the stories of angelic beings. Light and sparkles. I finally see her sparkle in all its glory… but not her face.

Then a heavy curtain is lifted, and I open my eyes. Arden’s hands are on my chest, and I know he has healed me.

Shayla calls my name.

I thank the goddess that I hear Shayla’s voice. But it quickly turns to terror as I see her devastating condition, drenched in her own blood. For some reason, Arden healed me instead.

The druid rushes to her.

All four of my coven mates work to save her.

My mind is swimming. I’m shivering, which I never do. Could I be in shock?

I hear someone say something about getting out of here, but I’m barely registering what’s happening. All I can think is that I might lose her… and after all this.

Branden chants to open the portal.

A female voice calls my family's name. “Lewellyn!”

The voice… It sounds like Shayla, but at the same time, not at all.

I spin to see an older and haggard version of my mate. Her mother.
