“Fuck, I’m sorry!” Arran’s eyes widen as he panics, scrambling out of the room and to the tiny kitchen. “I need to feed you. I’m such a bad mate!”

I hurry over and soothe him. I can see his instincts are riding him hard. “You’re doing a great job. Okay?”

He shakes his head and grabs a leftover bowl of pasta salad from the fridge. He pulls me to him by my waist with his other hand and sets me down on his lap.

“Food. Now.” He rips open the container and lifts a forkful to my lips.

I grin at this caretaker's behavior and gladly accept. I’m getting used to being taken care of.

“I can’t believe it. We’re fully mated,” he whispers, as if he doesn’t want to wake from a dream either. He licks and nuzzles my neck where he bit me.

“Maybe I have shifter blood,” I say with a glow in my heart. And I do the same for him, tending to the bite I gave him.

“Seems like the wolfboy likes licking, too.” Trouble’s voice squeaks out.

“Yes. Good mates,” Sage agrees, bouncing beside him in their corner. “They will make a hundred million pups.”

I palm my face. “Sage! I definitely won’t be making a bunch of pups. I’m not a bunny.”

“We can hope!” she says excitedly.

“Don’t you dare start with that,” I warn. “No more from you about licking or breeding.”

“But that’s all we have to entertain us,” Trouble whines.

Arran nuzzles my neck. “We could get them some toys to play with.”

“And treats!” Trouble grumbles. “You and Birdman haven’t delivered what you promised.”

“My wolf agrees we need more treats soon,” Arran says with a straight face.

I hold back a snicker. “Then we need to go on a shopping trip soon.”

FUSION

FLINT

Ithought my Heartstone was going to die by the flames of my pack brother, but she walked away unscathed. None of us have talked about what this means.

Ultimately, it’s Calder who will have to decide if he wants to walk away from his misery, move past his painful death, and accept the bond with Jade.

Maxum and Raithe stare at Calder’s unconscious form then we all give each other a worried look.

My heart goes out to our phoenix. I hope he can fuse his pieces back together and become stronger for it.

Stronger for her.

Through my mate bond, I sense Arran is easing our mate’s stress with his attention. She’s finding pleasure with him. I’m not angry or jealous, though I wish I could be there with her.

Maybe I should assist him. It’s not like I can offer Calder words of wisdom like Maxum or Raithe can. I’m not eloquent like they are.

Besides, they are strong enough to subdue him if need be.

But before I can ask to be excused and leave, I feel Arran’s presence through my connection with Jade.

What? How?
