Peeking inside, I don’t see much. Just his back where he sits on the floor.
It takes me a moment, but I grin when I hear what song he’s singing. It’s from my favorite artist, Ally Cat, and a country band she collaborated with last year. It's not her normal style, but the song is one I actually like.
It’s about heartbreak and watching the person you love from afar, wondering if they will ever be yours.
It wasn’t something I could ever connect with. Not until recently.
“Hey.” I push the door open, keeping my voice soft.
Aiden jumps slightly and looks at me over his shoulder. “Violet. Baby. What are you doing here? Are you okay?”
I go to tell him I’m fine, but I’m left speechless as I take the room in. “Aiden,” I breathe out in a hushed whisper.
He stands, a sheepish look taking over his handsome face as he rubs the back of his neck. “Be honest, what do you think? It’s not done, I know it still needs some work. I’m thinking of getting a local artist in to do a mural or something, liven the place up. And later on, we can change it as the baby grows.”
Stepping in further, I slowly spin in place, my hand raising to my mouth as tears fill my eyes.
He built a nursery.
When I asked where the baby was going to go, they said that they were going to convert one of their solo bedrooms into a nursery once I was further along.
This whole time Aiden has been working on this.
“It’s amazing,” I whisper, the tears that were building finally falling. I spin back around to face him and throw my arms around his neck. He grunts, catching me and lifting me into his embrace.
Grabbing his face between my hands, I kiss him hard. He moans, opening his lips so I can slip my tongue in and over his.
We kiss until we’re both breathless and panting.
“Careful, Omega,” he growls, nipping at my lower lip. “I think taking you right here in the baby’s room might be a little much.”
I laugh, pressing my forehead to his. “You're amazing, you know that?”
He shrugs. “It’s not a big deal. I needed something to keep myself busy while you were gone. It was either some big renovation project or drinking,” he jokes, only the look in his eyes tells me there might be some truth to that.
“Hey,” I whisper. “I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
“I know.” He nods, looking away. “But there was a time I thought I’d never see you again.” He looks back to me, emotion swimming in his baby-blue eyes. “The stubborn Alpha part of me refused to give up. Even though I felt hopeless, depressed, and all the other good emotions slipping away, I had to do this. To give you and our future babies a space of your own.” He smiles. “I just had no idea the baby part would come so soon.”
“I love you, Aiden. And I love this. Thank you. So much.”
“I love you too, my sweet Omega,” he murmurs. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you and our pack.”
We kiss again, this time slow and sensual. It doesn’t lessen the need for him at all.
“Come on,” he murmurs. “Let’s get you back to bed.”
“Help me relax?” I smile, brushing my lips against his.
He growls softly. “Anything for my Omega.”
Chapter 22
Thomas
“This place is... manly,” Violet comments with a soft laugh as she spins around, taking in my shop.
“Thanks,” I chuckle, kissing the top of her head as I pass her.
