That is until we open the door and find two very pissed-off looking Alphas staring at us.
“Where the fuck were you?!”
Chapter 16
Nolan
Oh shit. I fucked up.
Judging by the way the two very furious Alphas are glaring at us, I’m gonna go with I fucked up big time.
“Where the fuck have you been?” Aiden growls again, stepping towards us.
Violet’s eyes widen as she takes a step back. That has Aiden pausing, his head snapping towards Violet. Panic flashes over his face before it softens, seeing that he’s scaring her.
“Shit,” he sighs heavily. “I’m sorry.” He shakes his head. “I’m not mad at you, Little One.”
“I don’t understand. We were out having fun. I was with Nolan the whole time. Why are you upset?”
“We’re upset because for the past three hours, we didn’t know where you were,” Thomas said.
“We texted you, called you, and got nothing. What the fuck, Nolan?” Aiden growls.
“Shit,” I hiss, grabbing my phone out of my pocket. As soon as I unlock the screen, notifications come flooding in. “I didn’t get any of them until, literally, right now. Where we were didn’t have the best reception.”
“And where the hell was that?” Thomas growls. “What made you think it was a good idea to take her somewhere with no reception? What if something happened?”
“We were fine. Never in danger,” I insist. Normally, something like this isn’t a big deal. But I should have known. With just getting Violet back and her being pregnant, they would be on edge with worry.
“I’m sorry.” I take a step towards them. “I wasn’t thinking. And for that, I’m sorry. I wanted to surprise her with a fun day with her friends. I took her on the trails, then we went to the hot springs.”
“You what!” Aiden shouts. “She’s pregnant!”
“I know that.” I narrow my eyes at him. “She’s pregnant, not disabled, Aiden. I did my research. Her riding or going to the hot springs was perfectly fine.”
“What if you got into an accident?” Thomas asks. “What if you both got hurt?”
“And what if I walk outside and the sky falls on me?” Violet steps up to my side, sliding her fingers into mine, lacing them together. I didn’t realize how much my heart was racing until it starts to slow at her touch. “I understand you’re upset. You didn’t know where we were, anything could have happened. I know we talked about how you were going to be a little overprotective for a while. But that can’t stop us from living our lives. Anything could happen to anyone at any time. We can’t be living in fear. Nolan wouldn’t have put me in danger; he knew what he was doing. I trust him, shouldn’t you?”
“Of course, we trust him,” Thomas mumbles.
“Did you three discuss something beforehand? Like keeping in contact, letting you know where we are at all times?”
“Well... no,” Aiden answers, rubbing the back of his head.
“Then why would he think he needed to tell you? You knew I was with him today, yes?”
“Yes,” they both grumble.
“And you trust him with my life and safety.”
“Of course,” Aiden grunts.
“Then accept his apology, let him make it up to you, and stop yelling at my Beta,” she huffs, lifting up her chin.
I’ve never been harder in my life. I’m in awe and totally just fell in love with this Omega.
I look down at her, a small smile forming on my lips. She glances up at me, giving me a little wink and making me chuckle. Oh, she’s good.
