Holding my stare, she says, “He already paid for it once, it seems foolish to have him do it again.” After everything that he’s done to her, she’s still worried about him.

“The house was already paid in full when he gave it to you, Lyric. Technically, he didn’t lose anything. Just his pride. Yes, he worked and paid for it himself but that’s on him since he wanted you to be a stay-at-home wife and mother. Take the money, invest it, or do whatever you want with it. It’s yours, Beauty. You deserve every cent after what he put you through.”

She turns quiet, leaning her head against my shoulder. This is what she does when she’s worried about something. Instead of talking it out, she’s used to solving all of her problems on her own. It’s one of her bad habits that I hope to break her out of. Now she has me and although I can’t fix them all, I’m sure as hell going to try.

Loving her has been so damn easy, but staying one step ahead has been so damn hard.

Silence fills the room and it’s all good. We’re comfortable with our own thoughts for the moment and I know when she’s ready she’ll let me in. If nothing else, having three sisters has taught me to give them their space.

“Being married to Jeff wasn’t as bad as I might have portrayed. In the beginning, I wanted for nothing. It was my choice to stay home because I wanted to raise Novalee. Things just started changing when she started school and I wanted to go back to work. Desperate for my own independence. That’s when he put his foot down.”

Yep, that’s my Beauty. Always trying to justify his nasty behavior.

“I can assure you right here and now, I’d never stop you from going to work. If I’m home, it’s my responsibility to care for the baby. If I’m touring, I’ll hire a nanny to help. Whatever you decide, I’ll back you up one hundred percent.”

“I know and I appreciate it. I get that this baby was a total surprise and yet you’re willing to turn your world upside down for the both of us.”

Oh, this is just the beginning.

Lifting her chin with my fingers, I search her face. Wondering why she’d expect me to do anything less.

“I would move heaven and hell and the sun and the moon for you and the baby, Beauty. You’re now my top priorities and always will be. Never doubt it for a moment. I love you both with my whole damn heart and soul.”

LYRIC

“I love you more, Fast Hands…”No sooner than those words leave my lips, he swallows my next words with his mouth. I welcome him with open arms because there’s no place else I’d rather be than lost in this man.

Our mouths move in total synchronicity. Our heart rates speed up and our lips part. Breathing each other in. Anticipating, exploring, and tasting. Our desire a potent aphrodisiac that’s always as explosive as our first time. Every time.

Our need for each other skyrockets as he lays me down on the sofa. Our needy hands unzip, unbutton, and discard as much clothing as possible. With a moan, he lines himself up to my slick entrance and impales me in one swift thrust. Filling me while his hands and mouth devour my heated flesh.

With my hands tangled in his hair and my legs wrapped around his hips, he rides me with intense determination. Coaxing, pushing, and sending me over the edge to the point of no return. An impending climax on the horizon.

“Fuck, come with me, Beauty...”

When his cock expands, filling me to near bursting, I scream out his name as I tumble down the abyss with Micah right behind me. Our bodies jerking, convulsing, and trembling before exploding.

One beautiful climax shared by two people hopelessly in love.

We stay cocooned in each other’s embrace for what seems like hours but is only minutes. I’m well aware that we won’t be comfortable in this position for much longer since my belly will get in the way. We’ll need to be more creative, and I already have a few new positions up my sleeve that I’m sure he’s going to love.

“Let’s get cleaned up and start on the nursery,” he whispers while kissing my neck. Knowing he’s excited about the baby makes me feel content and calm. Like we got this. It’s the most amazing feeling in the world.

“There’s nothing we can do until after the baby shower, Micah.” His sisters would kill him if he stepped on their toes, since they’re so excited to do this for us.

“True, but we can put up curtains and get things ready, right?” His enthusiasm is contagious and I’m suddenly giddy with excitement.

“Okay, you talked me into it. Let’s go.”

Several hours later, we come home with tons of bags, some of them mine, a takeout dinner, and some goodies for later. Talk about shop until you drop. I’m exhausted after morning sex, a day of shopping, and a few screaming fans who recognized Micah. I’ve no doubt we’ll be plastered all over their social media posts. It doesn’t seem to faze him, but he’s used to it. I, on the other hand, am not. I better get used to it.

What’s done is done.

“I’ve got this, Lyric. After I bring all of this upstairs, I’ll fix our dinner. Now sit down and rest, it’s been a long day.” Normally, I’d argue but I am tired and glad for the rest.

Taking off my shoes, I snuggle on the sofa with the blanket over me. It’s freezing outside, but it’s typical winter weather in New York. Milder than usual but still chilly.
