“I was talking to you in the car and you were zoned out. Not hearing a word I said. You don’t know how close I came to taking you to the emergency room.”
“Sorry, I don’t want to worry you. I just have so much on my mind that I just can’t shut it down.” As soon as we step inside the house, he scoops me up and carries me into the bedroom. “Micah, what are you doing?”
Laying me on the bed, he begins removing all of my clothing. Starting with my shoes, then my pants, my shirt, and my bra, saving my panties for last. When I’m naked and shivering from want, he grabs my legs, pulls me to the edge of the bed, and buries his face in my pussy. He swirls his tongue around my clit before lapping and licking my arousal.
“Fuck, Micah I’m going to…”
With my body quivering and my hands tangled in his hair, he devours all of me until I’m empty. When I come down from my blissful high, he looks up at me.
“Your come all over my face is the only way I know how to shut down your mind, Beauty.”

MICAH
Today’s the day.The day we go to my parents’ house to let them know they’re going to be grandparents. I’ve no doubt they’ll be ecstatic. Knowing my mom, she’ll be upset. More so for Lyric than for me, and I totally get it. Anyone over forty is considered a high risk, but so many women are waiting until then that it’s not as uncommon as it used to be. It’s not like we planned it, it just happened. The fact that Lyric shouldn’t have gotten pregnant in the first place and did is the perfect example of divine timing. The universe has other plans for the both of us.
There are still so many obstacles that we need to tackle but all in good time. I don’t want to bombard her with everything baby. We still have plenty of time to figure it out, but I’d love to do it before the holidays start. With all the hustle and bustle, time has a way of slipping by way too fast.
Believe me, if I had my way, she’d be living with me already, but the few times I mentioned it, she changed the subject. I’ve no doubt it’s going to be a hot topic but if we can’t decide, I’ll gladly sell my home and move in with her, or we could just buy a brand-new house or have one built. In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t really matter where we live as long as we’re together.
Setting my cup in the sink, I decide to go upstairs to see what’s taking Lyric so long. She should have been showered and dressed by now. Taking the stairs two at a time, I come to a complete stop right before entering my room. She’s standing in front of the full-length mirror, naked, cradling her stomach. She’s the most breathtaking sight to behold. Barely showing but loving our child that’s growing inside of her.
She catches me staring at her in the mirror, and she holds out her hand. “Come here, Micah.”
I do what she asks because I can’t refuse this woman. Not in the cards.
Grabbing her hand, I bring it to my lips, kissing her fingertips. Then her knuckles and the palm of her hand. She’s the keeper of my heart.
“Put your hands here.” She places my hands in the same spot as hers were and then puts hers over mine. We stare at each other in the mirror and my love for her seems to grow tenfold. Lyric Montgomery is going to be the mother of my child. My child. I’m going to be a father. “Will you still love me when I’m fat with swollen ankles?” Is she serious?
“Beauty, I’ll love you even more. Knowing your body’s changing to care for our child that’s growing inside of you. That’s the most amazing gift you could have ever given me.” When her teary gaze holds mine, I lose my breath. I never thought it was possible for me to love this woman any more than I already do. Boy, was I wrong.
When tears slip down her cheeks, I want nothing more than to catch them all in a jar and save them for the baby. Just to show him how much his mom loved him even before he was born.
I’m so tempted to slide my hand between her silky thighs and dip my finger into her wet opening. But if I do, we’ll be late. Under different circumstances, I wouldn’t give a fuck. My parents on the other hand…. They taught their children to be punctual at all times. Yeah, call it old-fashioned if you like, but it’s why I love them so damn much.
“We should get dressed before those Fast Hands start exploring.” Oh, she knows me so well.
Bending down, I kiss her neck and go back downstairs to put as much distance between us. Anticipating what I’m going to do to her when we get back home will have to suffice for now.
Lyric’s quiet on the drive over and I totally get it. We’re both a little worried about telling them about the baby. In truth, why should we? We’re both adults, in love, and having a baby is as natural as breathing. Right? Absolutely. There’s no reason whatsoever to be worried.
As we pull into the driveway, Maya comes running out to greet us. Okay, what the fuck is the whole family doing here? Lyric glances at me right before Maya yanks open her door.
“When Dad mentioned you guys needed to talk to them, we decided to come too. That way you don’t need to repeat yourselves over and over again.” Is she fucking serious? I do love my family, but this is pushing me to the max.
“Well, I suggest you all jump back in your cars and head home. Beauty and I are not a circus act, and we don’t put on a show at the drop of a dime. We’re here to visit Mom and Dad, so make like a tree and leave.”
Lyric squeezes my arm before I thread my fingers with hers. Guiding her as far away from Maya as is humanely possible in such a small area.
“Just so you know, the family’s taking bets. Some say you’re here to announce your engagement and others say no way. It’s too soon.”
Lyric suddenly turns around, facing off with my sister. “Then you’d all be dead wrong. We’re here to let everyone know we’re pregnant.” I didn’t see that one coming but that’s my girl.
“Oh my god. Are you joking?” When we don’t so much as blink, she screams, “I’m going to be an auntie!” Maya squeals as she jumps in between the both of us for a group hug. As pissed as I was earlier, I can’t help join in her enthusiasm. I’m going to be a father.
“Thanks, sis. You can let us go now since everyone’s staring out the window, wondering what the hell’s going on.” Giggling, she releases us and runs up the walk, no doubt spilling her guts as the front door swings open.
