One hand stayed wrapped around his middle as the other came to rest on his nape and held him firm while I leaned forward to meet him the rest of the way. When our lips finally touched, groans filled the air, either from me or him, I didn’t know, but I knew I had to have more.

The kiss started off soft and tentative but quickly transformed into a hunger that was almost unquenchable. I swiped my tongue against his lips, demanding entrance, and he let me in on a gasp.

His tongue was stiff at first, making me wonder if this was his first kiss. The thought of being the first to show him what felt good turned me on more than I would ever admit.

I probed my tongue against his, feeling around for the areas that would make him moan. His tongue moved with mine in a sensational dance. His shaky breath was hot against my skin, and when I paused to suck on his bottom lip, he gasped and jumped in shock, causing us to tumble out of our sled and fall into the snow.

I kept my hold on him, laughing in wonder at how much joy that simple kiss brought me. Laying in the snow, I examined Ethan’s expression to make sure that the kiss had been good for him as well. He looked back at me with teary eyes, flushed cheeks, and a huge smile for me.

What else could I do but press another soft kiss on his red lips? I didn’t linger this time and quickly pulled back. I raised my hand to brush the hair and snow out of his face and shot him a smile. “Wanna slide down again?” I asked.

His face lit up even more as he pulled us to our feet. “Heck yeah!”

I grabbed his ungloved hand and held the rope as I pulled the sled behind us. Ethan’s laughter rang in my ears. He’d look back every few seconds to urge me to go faster as we made our ascent back up the hill. I smiled and sped up into a run.

We rode our two-person sled down the slope a few more times before Ethan felt comfortable enough to try sliding down on the tube by himself. He immediately became addicted to snow tubing, and we spent another hour racing each other and awarding the winner with a kiss at the bottom of the hill, making it a win for me either way.

My hands rested on his neck while my thumbs stroked his cheeks as he looked up at me with his bright eyes. He was shy having others see us hold hands when we’d first arrived at the slope, but now he wasn’t even fazed being seen kissing in public. Or perhaps it was more like he didn’t notice anyone else but me, which had all kinds of warm and fuzzy tingling in my belly.

Speaking of stomach… A loud growl had us pulling away from the sweet kiss. Ethan glanced up at me through his thick eyelashes. “Lunch?” he asked with a tilt of his head.

I leaned down for a last peck. “Sounds great,” I said against his lips as I gave his nape one more soft squeeze before letting go to grab his hand. We dragged our snow tubes back up the hill. This time, he didn’t let go of my hand when we reached the crowded area.

The blond from earlier was still at the top helping and teaching the other first timers. He smiled and waved when he saw us. Ethan waved back, but I scowled and quickly dragged him to the designated area to drop off the snow tubes.

Ethan’s chuckle had me slowing down to look back at him. “What?” I grumbled.

“It’s noth—” he started but quickly changed his words when he saw the look on my face. My nerves were already worked up at the memory of the blond flirting with Ethan. I wasn’t in the mood for non-answers right now. “It’s just that you look jealous,” he finally said with a cute blush.

I stopped and brought his non-gloved hand to my lips. We still had on one glove each from the same pair. “Does that make you happy?” I asked, some of the tension leaving me.

“Maybe,” he said, but the corners of his lips that were trying their best not to point upward told me that he was happier than he was letting on.

“I guess it’s only fair to make up for last night,” I said with a grin. The blinding smile that lit up his face mesmerized me, and I knew I would do whatever it took to make damn sure he was always smiling.

FOURTEEN

ETHAN

Neither of us wanted to make the trek into town for lunch so we opted to dine at the B&B. The options were limited, but the delicious food hit the spot, and we were soon heading back to our room to rest for a bit before heading into town. I still had to buy some more clothes, but I definitely wasn’t in a hurry. I was more than happy to wear clothes that smelled like Kingsley.

Kingsley took hold of my hand whenever possible, and I almost always had to pinch myself to confirm that I wasn’t dreaming.

I had my first kiss, and it was with the person I’d always wanted it with. Ever since I’d caught him making out with a girl in seventh grade, I’d had numerous fantasies of what it would be like if I were ever lucky enough to kiss him. The real thing was a billion times better than what I had imagined.

We entered the cozy room and stripped out of our coats. The glove Kingsley lent me had been reunited with its other half, and it was currently stuffed in one of his coat pockets. I unwrapped his red scarf to reveal my bare neck that was exposed from his large t-shirt.

“You look adorable in my clothes,” Kingsley said as he gave me a once over. The teasing was clear in his voice, and I had no clue what to make of it. He was acting the same as before, except with more kissing and hand-holding now.

So what did that make us? I didn’t know, and there was no way in hell I was going to ask. I was supposed to treat this as a holiday fling lest I got too ahead of myself, and I didn’t think there needed to be any conversations about “relationship status.” That would only make things too real, and I wasn’t ready for that yet.

I gave him an eye roll even as the tips of my ears heated up. I wasn’t going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me all frazzled, so I left him by the door and walked further into the room.

My gaze flicked to the bed we’d shared last night. Memories of me waking up on top of him and half-naked had my steps faltering for a second before I pushed those thoughts away and continued walking to the small table by the window.

My biology textbook was still abandoned where we’d left it. I sat on the chair by the table and opened the book. A few seconds later, the chair in front of me pulled out, and I glanced up to see Kingsley sitting across from me.

“You’re not going to rest?” he asked as he placed his elbows on the table and laid his chin on his intertwined hands.
