“You ready to get your hands dirty?” Matt whispered in my ear, causing a slight tingle to race through my body.
“Oh, no. I have a meeting to go to.” I smiled sweetly. “But I’ll be happy to help you get cleaned up afterward.”
Matt knew I had no problems doing dirty work. It wasn’t like I hadn’t been helping around the ranch.
“I’ll hold you to that, Greene.” His voice grew deep and gravelly. Oh, the promises those words held. My nipples hardened at his tone.
Matt, Andrew, and Gavin strode toward the trailers, leaving me alone. I didn’t want to get in the way of everyone.
“Well, if it isn’t my favorite little squirt.”
I turned to see Caleb getting out of one truck and running toward me, arms wide open.
I couldn’t stop the smile from stretching across my face, even though I really wanted to groan. I hated when he called me that. It wasn’t like I was the little girl who chased the twins around with a massive crush anymore. I’d grown out of that when I went to high school and that crush transferred to Matt.
Caleb tossed me over his shoulder and spun around. It hurt to laugh with his shoulder in my stomach, but I couldn’t stop. After the second spin, it turned into a squeal before Caleb set me on my feet. “We’ll have to catch up later. Make yourself useful and help unload,” he teased, knocking my shoulder with his.
“I can only help for a little bit. I have to meet Alex soon.” I turned to the trailers only to stop in my tracks.
Oh. My. God
Standing next to one of them was a devastatingly handsome blond man with dangerous gray eyes.
The man who had taken over my dreams for the past few months.
“Chloe?” His wide-eyed gaze met mine.
“Hunter?” My breath sped up and my eyes darted to Matt before going back to Hunter.
Oh shit.
HUNTER
“Hunter?”
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. I blinked again. My heart hammered in my chest.
Was that really her? Or had I dreamed of her for so long I was imagining her here?
Chloe stood there frozen, mirroring me. What was she doing here?
And did she just finish hugging Caleb… like they knew each other?
What. The. Fuck?
The woman I’d been searching for these past few months was standing thirty yards from me.
Her blonde curls caught the breeze, blowing around her shoulders. I fought against rushing to her side and tucking them behind her ear. She fit in so well with her simple pair of jeans and teal blouse paired with cowgirl boots.
I was torn between kissing her senseless or trying to play it off like I hadn’t been heartbroken when she left me alone in my hotel room.
Matt bent and whispered something in her ear before lightly brushing his lips against her temple. Red tinged my visionaround the edges. How dare he touch my girl! I clenched my hands into fists.
Matt turned toward me and his eyes narrowed. He hesitated a moment more before heading to the cars when someone called his name.
Wanting to punch Matt in the jaw for touching Chloe had now settled at the top of my list of things I couldn’t decide on.
Finally, my body made the decision for me. One foot landed in front of the other, and I made my way to Chloe at an excruciatingly slow pace. I had no clue why she was here, but from the interaction she’d had with multiple people, this wasn’t the first time.
