I love you more
“That felt good.” I grinned. “I’ll tell Asher at least once a day I love him.” After connecting the charger to the phone, I went to the kitchen.
“Morning, Georgia.” I grabbed a mug out of a cabinet and poured myself a cup of coffee. “I thought you had the day off?”
“Nope.” She was in front of the stove with her back to me. “Sit, your breakfast is ready.”
Georgia placed a plate filled with bacon, eggs, and sliced fruit in front of me after I sat. “I’m famished.” I murmured, then put a napkin in my lap and dug in. “Asher and I stayed out late last night.”
Georgia spun around, her mouth a perfect open circle. “Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?”
“It’s an excellent thing.” I slugged back half the coffee, and Georgia grabbed the coffee pot and topped my mug up. “We’re getting married again, though we still have a lot of work to do on our relationship.”
“Well now, that’s wonderful news.” She said, then gestured toward the chair across from me. “May I?”
“Yeah, fill a plate and sit.”
She poured a cup of coffee and sat down. I loved her gray braids. They were so long she had to move them to make sure she didn’t sit on the ends. “Does Florida know yet? Because she’ll be so happy to know you’re coming back to the family. She told me that everyone misses… hey, why didn’t you sleep at the Yateses’ house?”
I sighed, wishing I could have slept in my actual bed with Asher. “We’re taking things slowly. But Asher says I can start planning the wedding. I’ve got a million things to do first.” There was a pad of paper and a pen on the counter, so I grabbed them and sat back down.
1. Make an appointment with the wedding planner
* * *
2. Call Therapista
* * *
3. Personal shopper at Saks for Dior suits
* * *
4. Get new measurements taken of Asher. He’s pushing maximum density, but I still love him.

“There. Those are the most important things.” I tore off the paper and stuffed it in the robe. Mom would enter the note in my daily planner when I saw her later. “Sorry to eat and run, Georgia, but my day is packed, and I still haven’t told Mom the good news.”
Georgia lifted her coffee cup and an eyebrow. “Are you sure you want to be telling people yet? Like, maybe you should be one hundred percent sure before…”
“Everything’s going to be perfect. I swear.”
I arrived at work before Mom did and raced to my office to get ready for my first client. When I switched on the computer, I saw it was an Elizabeth Cole Robins, who wanted to expand her library. “Who the hell is, oh yes. The pharmaceutical empire.” I’d already drawn up the plans, so I sent the file to the printer.
“Darling!” Mom poked her head in the door. “Have you eaten already, because I was going to pop over to Baker’s Treat and…”
“Sit!” I pointed at the chair in front of the desk. Once she was settled, I handed her the notes I’d taken at breakfast. “Please add these events to my calendar.”
She glanced over it, and an enormous grin split her face. “Oh my baby boy, I’m so excited! But what happened to your date with Cort Tyler?”
“Yuck. Never mention that name to me again.” I shook my head. “It was the date from hell, but Asher showed up with a fugly date of his own.” Hmm. Mom was the only person who knew where we were going. “Did you tell Asher we were eating at L'Opossum?”
Mom’s grin faltered. “Um, well,” she shrugged. “Maybe?”
My mother was the mouth of the south. “Since it ended well, all is forgiven.” I glanced at my watch and noted I had almost an hour before the Robins woman arrived. “Mom, give me that note back. I can take care of this stuff right now.”
She handed me the paper. “Do you want me to grab you some breakfast while I’m at Baker’s Treat?”
