Margaret swallowed. “I see what you did there.”
Allison chuckled. “What are you and Dad’s plans for Valentine’s Day?”
“Do you really want to know?”
Allison squinted. “Not if it’s nasty.”
Margaret’s laugh was naughty. “Well, your father wants to take me out. When we were younger, we frequented clubs, and he took pleasure in showing me off.”
“Because you were a baddie.”
“Were?”
Allison’s face brightened. “You still are, of course. But then you were probably half-naked.”
“Oh, like you girls are nowadays?”
“Geez, I hope not.”
Margaret licked her lips. “I wasn’t naked, but I did have this one-piece sheen number that made his tongue wag when I put it on.”
“Okay. That’s enough.”
“Well, don’t you want to know what we’re doing or not?”
“Not if you keep going down this road.”
Margaret snickered, tickled. “I do have another piece like that, but it’s meant strictly for our quarters. I got you one too. I have no doubt Lance will love it.”
“You got me a sheer bodysuit?”
“I did.”
“To fit this body, right here?”
Margaret rolled her eyes. “I said yes, didn’t I?”
“Let me see it!”
Margaret and Allison left the kitchen and headed to the master bedroom on the first floor.
“I’m thrilled that we didn’t have to go up those stairs,” Allison quipped.
“You forget that we have an elevator.”
“Oh! You guys never use it, so yes, I did forget.”
In the closet,Margaret removed a black box with a pink bow on top.
“Happy Valentine’s Day.” She wiggled her brows. “I’m sure I won’t see you tomorrow, so you might as well take your gift or Lance’s gift, now.”
“I can’t believe you still gift me on Valentine’s Day.”
Margaret frowned. “Why wouldn’t I? It’s only been our tradition since you were single.”
Allison smiled. “Thank you, mom.”
“Go ahead and open it.”
