Allison chuckled, crossing the threshold but pausing long enough to lean into Lance and kiss him.

“Mmmmm.”

“Damn, you’re so delicious. Head to my office.”

He watched her strut in four-inch heels, checking out the ampleness of her ass in the skinny maternity jeans that gripped her derriere.

Suddenly, Lance was hungry for her, and he would have to remind himself that his focus needed to remain on the task of finding the thief in the building.

Inside the office, Lance spread the food across a table he’d explicitly had for their lunches at his studio.

“You smell like a thousand roses,” he said, drawing her into his arms once their table was set.

Allison slipped her arms around his neck. “And you smell like my favorite natural sweet scent.” She licked his lips, and he growled.

“Beauty, you better watch it. I’m trying to be delicate with you.”

“Why? I’m seven months. The doctor said around eight to nine months is when sex could make me go into labor. We’ve still got time for a little rough sesso,” she said in Italian. Allison kissed him again.

“Nah, that’s for the average male. We’re talking about me.”

Allison laughed, and her tinkering melody made butterflies flourish in his gut.

“Maybe you’re right.”

“You know I’m right. What do you have in this bag?”

“Something light. Smoked Salmon Crepes and roasted balsamic Brussel sprouts for a little razzle-dazzle.”

“Hmmm.” He kissed her lips.

“What were you working on?”

His mind shuffled back to his task. “More equipment has come up missing.”

Allison’s brows rose. “Oh no.”

“One of the drones.”

She gasped. “No!”

“Unfortunately.”

“Do you know who it is? I don’t understand why someone would steal from you!”

“I was looking over the camera footage when you arrived.”

“Then I’m interrupting.” She wiggled out of his embrace and grabbed her purse from the chair she’d laid it in previously.

“What are you doing?”

“I’m leaving so you can get back to your investigation.”

“No, you’re not.” He strolled to Allison and stopped her. “Please, don’t leave.”

She offered him a soft smile. “But you need to find out, baby.”

“I will. And you can help me. Two sets of eyes are better than one. Don’t you agree?”
