London did, and the warm brew went down her throat nicely.

“Mmmm, this is good.”

Carla nodded and took another puff of the joint, then passed it back.

London hit it so soft this time, she barely pulled anything in. Carla laughed and shook her head.

“Don’t be scared now.”

“Hush.”

Carla chuckled. “What do you think Kyle is doing right now?”

“I actually want to talk about you and Jacob. I need to get my mind off of this for a minute.”

“Me and Jacob?” Carla perked up; her shoulders lifted as a blush fell over her face.

“Saying his name does all of that, huh?”

“It does, but unfortunately, there is no me and Jacob.”

“What do you mean?”

“We haven’t had that date we were supposed to have.”

“Yet?”

“Nope.”

“Any reason why?

“He’s a busy man.”

“Yeah, but you make time for what you want to. So, if he isn’t making time for you, then maybe it’s time for you to look somewhere else.”

“I ain’t looking nowhere. The Bible says, ‘A man that finds a wife finds a good thing.’ So, whoever my man is, when it’s time, he’ll find me.”

“She says, quoting Bible scriptures even as she inhales a joint,” London teased.

“Hey. God put this here for all of us. Why do you think it grows, baby?”

Their laughs turned into giggles, and soon, both of their eyes were half closed.

London was relaxed against the lounge and staring into the fire, quietly sipping her cocoa that was going cold while taking the last hits of the joint.

“I think I’m high.”

Carla leaned to the side, laughing. “Oh, I’m certain you’re high. You’ve been zoned out for so long I can’t remember the last thing we were talking about.”

“And you don’t care, either.”

They both laughed.

“You got me there.”

“Thank you.”

London finally took her attention back to Carla.
