Twenty Five

Ethan

I had spent the first half of Friday morning on the phone with Graham as we worked out the last few details on the Gainesworth Investments deal, and I was somewhat relieved when he let us off the hook for dinner at Zenkichi tonight. Not that I didn’t want to spend time with him and get to know Soraya, I just wanted to spend that time alone with Eva. I had no idea if she really had plans with her sisters or if it had been a lie from the start, and if she did have plans, whether they were canceled as her friend had mentioned.

My fingers tapped against the keyboard in front of me as I struggled to think about how to ask her. Everything sounded lame and pathetic in my head. I was a fucking lawyer who had graduated at the top of my class but yet I couldn’t figure out how to ask the girl I liked whether she had plans tonight.

I clicked my mouse to move the cursor in the chat box I had opened and stared at it. Deep breath in, deep breath out, I reminded myself.

Me: Hey, what’s happening tonight?

I stared at the words on the screen and rolled my eyes. What was I? Seventeen? I pressed the arrow and deleted the string of text and then tried again.

Me: Any big plans for the night?

Yeah, like that was any better. Another long press of the arrow to get rid of the pitiful words in front of me.

Me: Hey

Without realizing it, I bumped the enter key with my wrist and pressed send. Before I could stress about how stupid it sounded, I saw Eva’s head look up and read the message before she glanced over into my office.

Eva: Hey

Well, at least this was a start. An awkward one, but one nonetheless.

Me: Sorry, I accidentally hit send before I finished typing.

I was cringing inside as I read the words I had just sent to her. What was wrong with me? I wasn’t ever this unorganized and chaotic, nor did I ever have this hard of a time asking a girl what her plans for the night were. In all fairness, I rarely had to. One look and they were ready to go wherever I told them to.

Eva: No worries. Did you need something?

Yeah, a fucking brain CT or scan or whatever they do to see if you’re crazy. Because right now, I was feeling crazy. Ever since I left her apartment this morning, I was feeling off and I hated not being in control.

Me: No, thank you.

She turned to look at me, a puzzled look on her face after she read the message. Don’t worry Eva, I’m as fucked up right now as I sound. I blamed her wet pussy that had been wrapped around my cock so many times last night, it must’ve somehow sucked all of my intelligence out with each orgasm she pulled from me.

I put my head down between my hands and tried to figure out what I was doing.

“Hey, are you alright?” she asked softly as she leaned against the door frame. I lifted my head and looked at her standing there, looking fucking gorgeous with her long, black hair that laid perfectly over the crimson red sleeveless blouse she was wearing. It hugged her waist perfectly and showed off her curves as it tucked into the waistband of the short, black skirt that made me want to bend her over my desk and see what panties she decided to wear with it. It was tight enough that my guess was that she wasn’t wearing any.

I swallowed hard, trying to use whatever mental power I had left to force my dick down. Now wasn’t the time or place for this. I had a lot that I needed to get done and fucking her in my office wasn’t on my list. Even though it should be.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. I’m just a little out of sorts this morning,” I mumbled and ran a hand over the coarse hair on my jaw. Was it still morning? Who even knew what time it was at this point?

“Did you eat breakfast?” Her brows pulled together in concern. “I can make you some—”

“Don’t say toast,” I laughed, watching the mock hurt look as it flashed across her face before she folded her arms over her perfect tits and pinned me with a look.

“Fine, I can order you breakfast from somewhere. What do you want?”

“You don’t have to order food for me. Besides, isn’t that Kate’s job?”

“Kate’s in Regina’s office. She’s been there all morning.” She leaned back slightly and looked down the hall to make sure she wasn’t at her desk. “I don’t know when she’ll be back.”

“What’s that about?” I asked out loud, even though I hadn’t expected her to know.

“I have no idea, but Kate seemed a little off this morning. Kind of distant with me. Who knows?” She shrugged and scrunched her nose. “So, what do you want for breakfast? Or would you rather wait, and I’ll order us lunch?”
