Chapter Ten

Emily

I never knew what a sex high was until Chris.

I’d also never used any of the sex-niques I learned from watching porn either.

Cassie was in a fit of giggles. “I can’t believe it, you little minx! That is freaking awesome!”

“Hey, you’re the one who took me to that sex shop,” I defended.

She high-fived me. “Kudos to you, my friend. I gotta rewatch some of mine and freshen my memory.”

Now we were both laughing. “It did pay off. In spades, I might add.”

“Clearly.” She rubbed her hands together. “Now take me through it all again, point by point. Don’t leave anything out.”

An hour later, I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. As I drove to my client’s house, I did exactly what Cassie said she was going to do. I thought about the things I’d seen and how I might incorporate them in the bedroom.

My private lessons flew by, and before long, I was heading back home to the boys. I skidded to a stop when I saw a strawberry stand. Inspired, I hopped out and bought a flat of ripe, juicy red berries to make shortcakes for dessert.

I giggled uncontrollably after leaving the market. Whipped cream and ice cream were on the menu tonight. They’d also be on Chris if I had anything to say about it. The apex between my thighs quivered with anticipated delight as I imagined the things we could do with strawberries, whipped cream, and ice cream.

Rufus huddled in the corner, looking at me through hooded eyes. My shortcakes were cooling on the rack behind me.

“It’s okay, buddy. It was an accident.” I held an ice pack to my eye as I moved to the couch to sit. Moose hopped onto the couch next to me. “Come here.” I looked back at my miserable dog and patted my leg.

Rufus rose and walked like he was walking the line. “Come here, Rufus,” I crooned. As soon as he was within reach, I patted his head. When he came close enough, I circled my arm around him and cuddled his head. When I heard the thumping of his tail, I smiled. “You’re a good boy, baby,” I said.

Twenty minutes ago, we were all playing. Out of nowhere, Rufus and my heads collided. We were playing tug-of-war with his favorite rope. “Accidents happen, Rufus.”

I sighed and settled back into the couch. When Rufus sank to the floor, I rubbed him with my feet. He let loose a happy groan, and I knew all was right once again.

My dogs knew Chris and Luke had arrived before I did. Wincing, I sat up. I knew I had fallen asleep because my ice pack was thawed.

When I opened the door, Chris was holding pizza from my favorite spot. “I got—” His eyes went wide. “Holy shit! What happened to your eye?”

“I’m fine, really,” I said. “Rufus and I got into a little fender-bender,” I joked.

He threw the box onto the counter and framed my face in his hands. “Poor baby. What can I do?”

“I just need another ice pack.”

He moved like lightning, taking my old one out of my hands and rushing to the freezer to switch it out. “I’m just thankful Luke wasn’t here because I’d be blaming him right now. He always seems to be the culprit when anything bad happens.”

I winced again when I laughed. “He’s a good boy, aren’t you?” I said, rubbing his ears.

“Today he was. Thankfully, those chairs are keeping him locked in the laundry room. But I’m not sure I can keep him barricaded for long.”

“That’s because he’s smart too.” I pulled out some treats and went through the ritual of commands. We were working onSpeak. It was taking Luke a little longer than usual.

Chris shook his head after I’d handed over treat number three. “He knows he can milk you for more treats if he pretends not to know the drill. You’re such a sucker.” His lips were warm against my neck, and shivers chased their way up my spine.

“You don’t think I know what he’s doing?” I teased. “Told you he was smart.”

My heart raced when Chris’s strong arms wrapped around me.

“I made strawberry shortcakes for dessert,” I said.
