“What about the kids?” He scrambled for anything to change my mind. “They don’t deserve this life.”
Narrowing my eyes, I glared. “I am more than capable of protecting my own children, Dakota, and if you ever call me honey again, I will fucking slit your throat. Now get the hell out of my way.”
The man gulped.
“Remi?”
Dakota growled, slowly turning while my father stood right behind him.
“This is all your fucking fault. She was getting better. She was moving on. Now her head is all messed up.”
“I only told my daughter the truth.”
“She didn’t need to hear the truth. The truth will get her killed!”
“The truth will set her free.”
Handing my bags to my father, I looked up at Dakota.
Maybe in another life he could have been the one to save me, but he would never understand the depth of sorrow I endured or how I truly clawed my way out of the bowels of hell. The man had his own demons, but they paled in comparison to what Max and I survived.
He would never understand the connection between the two of us. It didn’t matter how much time and space lay between us.
We were connected in a way that not even death could separate.
I knew that now.
I knew that the second our eyes connected.
It didn’t matter what he did or who he hurt, he still owned my soul.
Turning back to me, Dakota pleaded, “Remi, think logically here. The kids need stability. Let me and Arizona take them to Colorado to the Olympian Group. They will be safe there. Do what you need to do in Vegas and when you are done, if you want to disappear then Arizona and I will help you do that.”
Looking at my father, he said nothing.
“Dakota’s right, Remi,” Arizona said walking over. “My facility is off the books. No one knows it exists. Your kids will be safe there. In fact, if it helps, look at this.”
Handing me an iPad, I looked at the screen and gasped.
“That’s Soliel and Jax.”
“Yes. A friend of mine named Red showed up a few days ago with both kids, asking for protection.”
“Who is he?”
“A brother in the Wraith Warriors. His president, Wraith just learned he’s Soleil’s uncle. Sandman and Sunny entrusted Red with those kids. You can trust him too.”
“It will make traveling easier, Remi,” my father agreed.
I knew Sandman. That bastard didn’t trust anyone but Sunny. If Sunny allowed Red to take her brother and daughter, then I would too.
Nodding, I knew I couldn’t fight them all.
Dakota sighed then started barking orders while he and Arizona quickly left. Looking up at my father, I said, “I hope I made the right decision.”
“Don’t worry, moi malen’kiy lev.” My father grinned, walking over to me. “There is no place on this earth that my grandchildren can hide. I will always find them.”
“How can you be so sure?”
