After picking up a burger and fries, I head to my apartment and plop on my couch. I might be a nurse, but I do love my fast food sometimes. When I go home, my apartment feels empty, and I pretty much am. I’m a traveling nurse, which is a real shame right now because I’m all alone. I have no family anymore and I don’t trust a soul. I take out a glass and pour some water and then take a seat on my sofa and rest. What have you done to me? He is something else with his dark brown, almost hair that’s starting to turn gray at the temples. It’s so strange how he managed to pull me in when no man in years has captivated me like that.

When I finish my meal, I take a shower and then relax with a good book on my sofa. It’s so good just to decompress, but this latest release isn’t doing me any help because it’s an age gap romance. “Ugh,” I sigh, exiting it on my tablet. Instead, I search for a crime thriller to get my reading fix. I find a really good one and dig in, reading until my eyes grow heavy. Settling in, I set the tablet on the bedside table and turned off my lamp and went to bed well after midnight.

I woke up covered in sweat, dreaming of Evan his hands all over me instead of the other way around. Every inch of me tingles, especially between my legs. I reach inside my drawer and pull out my favorite toy.

Chapter Three

Evan

It’s Saturday, and she’s here, but I have every intention of letting her coax me into a full-blown workout, so I can keep her here long enough for lunch. Today, I had a little surprise once the girls were back. I have less than a week left with her. Things have flown by in a flash.

“Come on in, Jacqueline.” I opened the door and let her in. She slides off her light fall jacket and scarf, and my gray sweatpants may have been a bad idea because the light blue sweater she’s wearing dips just low enough to see the edge of her cleavage and hugs every inch of her curves. My mouth waters.

“Thank you, Evan. How are you doing this morning?”

“Wonderful, now that you’re here.” And I mean it. My cock is about to burst out of these damn things. I take her coat and turn around to set it in the front closet and then adjust my thick length under the waistband of my boxer briefs.

“Stop flirting with me, or I’ll have to leave,” she teases. She’s not going anywhere, and we both know it. Every visit our little quips get softer. The threat grows weaker.

“Don’t lie. You’re not going anywhere,” I say, returning to her side, stepping into her personal space. She doesn’t step back, and I can breathe her in. My favorite stolen moments., breathing her in. I take a step back and give her the proper space she deserves because despite the sexual tension between us, I respect that she’s here to do a job. “Besides, you have to wait for the girls to come back. I have something special for you.”

“Really?” She bites down on her bottom lip and I involuntarily lick mine. A growl escapes my chest. It’s so damn hard to fight the growing tension between us. The fact that she’stwenty years my junior is what keeps me from pulling her into my arms.

“Would you like a cup of decaf tea?”

“Sure. I need some caffeine this morning. I missed my dose.”

“Sorry, it’s not going to be any good. This shit is rubbish, but my nurse is a damn pain in my ass and refuses to let me enjoy life.”

“Oh does she?”

“Yes. If only she’d let me indulge.” The double entendre is clear as day. She shakes her head and pulls out her tablet, ignoring my flirting. “So what’s on the agenda today, drillmaster?” I say, choking on my words.

“You’re going to hit the treadmill for five minutes for a warmup and then we’re going to some strength training.” Luckily, I’m already prepared for it. Five minutes is nothing these days, but it’s just to keep my heart at a steady pace. I have to remember that it wasn’t that I wasn’t physically fit, I suffered from an unfortunate twist of fate. Being healthy doesn’t guarantee you can’t have a heart attack.

“So tell me how things are going for you?” I asked, setting my pace to a steady heart rate.

“Good, I suppose.” She’s doing her best to look away from me as she speaks. I know damn well why. I decided to wear a pair of gray sweatpants per my daughter’s suggestion. She said it draws women’s attention. Jackie looked once and then darted her eyes upward just as I imagined. My girls are bad influences.

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong, Mr. Sager.”

“Mr. Sager? What’s with the sudden change? I didn’t open my big mouth this time and say something.”

“Sorry, my mind is elsewhere.” I bet it is. Fuck, I mine is too. What I’d like to do to her would blow both of our minds.

“Okay,” I remarked and then kept finishing my five minutes without giving her any more of my attention. Once it beeped, I hit the stop and let it roll to an end before climbing off. She checked my pulse after thirty seconds and it had regulated nicely.

“You’re doing well.” She writes down my numbers and then we move onto the next exercise and I complete three sets of curls. “So, how are you feeling after those sets?”

“I’m great. Are you okay today?” Her color is high today and I wonder if she’s getting sick or it’s too hot because those cheeks are rosy.

“I’m fine.”

Her phone rings and she excuses herself. When she returns, I bring out two bottles of water. “Please sit. The girls won’t be too much longer.”

“Oh yeah, today they were at the parade, right?”
