I slap a hand over his mouth. “Too much information!”

“She just wanted to show me her skills.” His voice is muffled through my fingers.

“You never stop,” I laugh harder.

Nick looks over at us, a bemused smile on his face. The horse shifts and he wobbles in the saddle, grabbing it in alarm. Jordan laughs at him and gets the finger.

The horse turns around, putting Nick’s back to us.

“I still can’t believe you bought this place,” I nudge Jordan’s shoulder.

He nods a few times, glancing around the wide-open space surrounding us. “I like to make her happy. It’s a bonus that I’m enjoying it, too.”

“You’re so sweet.” He looks affronted. “Oh, come on,” I smile. “I know you guys are all loathe to admit that every single member of BreakNeck has fallen. But you’ve fallen for some hella awesome ladies.”

His grin stretches. “We sure have. We’re lucky, I guess. You could all hate each other.”

“I suppose. Statistically speaking, bringing a group of women together, there is a chance things could get bitchy. Jenna and Brooke have been friends for years. I was friends with Jenna before things got serious with Nick. We were always going to be tight.”

His brow creases. “Alessa isn’t all warm and fuzzy, though.”

“But she is awesome. I love her straight forwardness. She cares a lot, and that’s the way she expresses herself. She’s fun, we love having her around. You don’t need to worry,” I tell him.

His shoulders relax, like he needed to hear that.

“I can’t believe Ad and Jen are gonna be parents, though.” He turns to look at them, walking through the garden at the side of the ranch, holding hands.

Jenna admired the horses but decided not to ride, much to Adam’s relief. They’d set off earlier for a walk, Jenna tucked securely under his arm.

I can’t help but remember how they were when we first met. Adam was clearly too far gone to let her go. I’d sensed the hesitation in her. I’m glad they’re where they are now.

Total couple goals.

“Do you think you’ll have kids?” I ask him.

He looks thoughtful for a moment. I already know even if he isn’t ready to answer, he likes the idea.

“Red Alert is just taking off. She loves playing, and she needs the rush of that recognition. I’ve lived it, I know what it’s like and I can’t take that opportunity away from her.”

“You’re a good man, Jordan Adair.”

“Of course, I will tour with them, because no overzealous fans are getting anywhere near her.”

“Don’t you trust her?”

“Course I do,” he scowls up at me.

“Let her live the experience her way.”

“You sound just like her.”

“So she’s asked you not to smother her, then?” I tilt my head.

“Arch, bro!” Jordan yells, looking over my shoulder.

“I can’t believe you’re trying to get out of this conversation.” I cross my arms, using my feet to keep me steady on the fence.

“She’s already tried to tear my balls off over it. I’m not letting you have a shot, too.” He claps a hand on my shoulder, thenmoves behind me to greet Archer. “Where’s Brooke? Don’t tell me she’s working.”
