It’s not until we’re walking into his apartment that I break the silence that has fallen over us. “You are good enough,Xavier.” I can’t believe he’d ever think he wasn’t enough for me. I’ve been trying to prove that I can be the girlfriend he deserves, and all this time, he’s been trying to be enough for me.

“What?” He peers up at me. I can see the hurt in his eyes. He thinks he’s lost me. He hasn’t. I’m upset. I’m frustrated I had to find out from a reporter. But I’m still here. I’m not going anywhere.

“I said… you are good enough for me. You’ve always been enough for me. You don’t have anything to prove.” He looks at me for a long, silent moment. Just staring into my eyes. “I’m not going anywhere, Xavier,” I promise him. “I’m here, and I’m not going to disappear or walk out because we had an argument.”

“Dance with me?” he says, holding out an open palm.

“There’s no music.” I laugh and take his offered hand.

“Your laughter is all the music I need.” He pulls me into his arms and starts swaying side to side. “I was really looking forward to dancing with you tonight.”

“You can dance with me any night of the week, Xavier. We don’t need a fancy gala for that.” I tighten my arms around his neck as we move to an imaginary beat.

“You really are too fucking perfect, too fucking good for me,” he says, leaning down and capturing my lips with his.

I pull away and ask, “Is there anything else you’re hiding from me? We need to make a pact not to keep secrets from each other, Xavier. We need to be honest with each other if we want this to work.”

He stops moving. “There is one thing…” he says.

“What?” I ask, trying to wiggle out of his hold. He doesn’t let me; he holds on tighter.

“I made an appointment with a gynaecologist for you. I want to go and see a doctor, so I know what I can do to prevent you from passing out ever again.”

“I… I don’t know if that’s sweet or straight-up weird,” I tell him.

He shrugs. “I don’t like not knowing what’s happening with your body. I take my boyfriend responsibilities very seriously. Taking care of you is at the top of the list.”

“Oh yeah? Is giving me multiple, mind-numbing orgasms every night on that list of responsibilities by any chance?” I ask him.

“Right underneath making sure you have everything you need and you’re healthy and safe.”

“Okay, well, I’ve never felt safer than I do when I’m in your arms. And I’m healthy. So I think it’s time you took me to bed, Mr Christianson, and live up to that list of yours.” The next thing I know, Xavier bends at the waist. Picking me up, he throws me over his shoulder. “Oh shit! Do not drop me,” I yell as he walks down the hall into the bedroom.

“I would never drop you, babe,” he says, right before I’m flying through the air. I land on a cloud of softness. The bed. “Don’t move. We’re going to play a little game tonight.”

“What game?”

“It’s called how many orgasms can Shardonnay take before she passes out.”

“Oh, I like the sound of this game.” I rest up on my elbows and watch him disappear into his closet.

He comes back into the room with a handful of ties. “Stand up.”

I follow his instructions, positioning myself in front of him. Xavier walks behind me and undoes the zip on the back of my dress, pushing the sleeves off my shoulders, and the material pools at my feet.

“Fuck, I love your skin. It’s so fucking smooth, so flawless.”

I shiver as his finger trails the length of my spine before hooking into my G-string and tugging it down my thighs.

I feel his lips press to each of my ass cheeks. “I love this ass,” he says reverently. “I want you to tell me to stop if it gets to be too much.”

“Okay.” I doubt I’d ever tell him to stop. I love everything he does to me.

“Hands behind your back.”

Crossing my wrists just above my ass, I wait as he secures my arms together with one of the silk ties. I test the strength of the hold. I can’t wriggle out of this. He then brings something around to my face. Another tie. Xavier wraps it around my eyes, knotting it behind my head.

“Tonight, we’re going to play with your senses. I’m going to deprive some of them while highlighting others,” he whispers into my ear.
