“The first time didn’t count. I didn’t know he was my boss,” I argue. “Also, I think he frequents that club.”
“What do you mean?”
“He invited me to go back there. Which reminds me… How exactly do you know about that place?” I ask Eloise pointedly.
“I know the owner.” She shrugs.
“Right.” I roll my eyes. She’s evading.
“So why don’t you just go back and meet him? It’s not like you’re in the office,” Claire suggests. “Or at least give a girl a picture and name, andI’llgo meet him.” She laughs.
“Tequila, that’s what I need, not sex. I can live without sex,” I lie.
How the hell did I let them talk me into this?Again.I find myself standing at the entrance to Fire and Ice, the guest card burning my fingertips.
Squaring my shoulders, I push through the door. I’m doing this. But not for the reasons my friends may think. I’m going to find him, return this ridiculous bracelet, and go home.
Alone.
Chapter Six
She came. She fucking came. I really thought I was grasping at straws inviting Dani here tonight. I had no expectation that she’d actually turn up.
She’s here though, wearing a sexy-as-fuck black dress. I can see her nipples hardening under the fabric. Is she turned on already?
My eyes scan the interior of the club. It’s hard not to be turned on by the erotic scenes that surround us. None of which have anything on how one look at her has my cock standing to attention. Ready to perform. For her.
I watch her from my spot in the corner of the room. She’s taking everything in as her eyes flick from surface to surface. Searching for me. So I push to my feet and walk up behind her. My arm wraps around her waist, pulling her back against my body, my hard-on pressing into her ass.
“Little girl, you’re late,” I growl into her ear.
She lets out an audible moan as her body sinks into mine. Then, suddenly, she turns around and steps out of my hold. “I wasn’t planning on coming,” she says. “Sir,” she adds with a small smirk.
“I’m glad you chose to…come, that is.” I look down at her arms. “Why aren’t you wearing the bracelet?” I ask her.
“Because I can’t accept a gift like that. You’re my boss. I only came to return it.” She pulls the bracelet out of her clutch and hands it to me.
I hold it up. “This is what keeps you from being approached by other men. This tells everyone that you’re mine. You can’t be in here if you’re not wearing it,” I tell her.
“Don’t worry, I’m not staying.” She walks right past me towards the exit.
It takes me a few seconds to comprehend what just happened. Rejection is a new thing for me, something I’m not going to accept. I don’t lose. Anything, and Dani Hutchinson is a prize worth fighting for.
I follow Dani out of the building onto the street, step up next to her, and take her hand. “Come on,” I say, pulling her in the direction of my car.
“What? Wait!” She tries to pull back from me.
“I’m taking you home,” I tell her.
“I can catch a taxi.” She continues to struggle to break free from my hold.
I stop moving and stare down at her. “I’m taking you home. You are not catching a taxi when my car is right there.” I can see how much she’s fighting her natural instinct to submit to me. In the end, that instinct wins out.
When we reach the car, I hold open the passenger door and wait for her to climb in. It’s not until we’re pulling into my garage that she notices thatthe homeI was taking her to was mine, not hers. “Wait… You said you were taking me home.”
“I did. I brought you home. With me,” I tell her.
“I thought you meant my home, not yours. I never would have…” She lets her sentence trail off.
