Page 23 of Signs and Wonders

“There’s nothing to forgive.” Seth guided him toward the bedroom. “But if you want reassurance, I’ve got ideas.”

“Want to be close to you.” Evan tugged at Seth’s T-shirt and pulled at his belt. “Want to feel you everywhere.”

They left a trail of clothing between the door and the bed, tumbling naked onto the comforter together. Evan’s hands moved constantly, running along Seth’s sides, cupping his ass, sliding over his chest as if he was reassuring himself of Seth’s presence.

“I’m here. Not going anywhere without you,” Seth murmured. “Slow down and enjoy the ride.”

Seth landed on top, and Evan spread his legs to allow Seth to lie between them as they touched and kissed. Seth sensed that tonight was as much about reassurance as it was horniness, so he willed his boner to be patient, which was only partially successful.

He shifted, letting their cocks line up together as his hips began slow friction that sent heat up his spine. Evan moaned. “Just let me,” Seth coaxed. “Tell me what you want.”

“Anything. Everything. Just want to feel you.”

Seth slipped his hand between them, smearing their cocks with pre-come and wrapping his fingers around them. “I’m right here. Stop thinking and just feel.” Seth peppered Evan’s shoulders, neck, cheeks, and forehead with kisses before returning to plunder his mouth. Their tongues slipped together, echoing the rhythm of their hips.

“Seth—” Evan’s warm release covered Seth’s hand, and his seed followed as he climaxed seconds later. They lay together, sticky, sated, and panting as Seth let the afterglow wash over him.

“That was….”

“Yeah,” Seth agreed. “Feel better?”

“Uh-huh.” Evan sounded sleepy and blissed out. “Tomorrow morning, I want you to fuck me.”

“Sounds like a perfect way to start the day,” Seth agreed. “But if we don’t clean up, we’ll be stuck to the sheet, which is not perfect in any way.”

He gently disentangled himself from Evan’s sprawled body and padded to the bathroom to wash up, returning with a warm cloth.

“I’ve got you.” Seth washed away the spunk and sweat. Sometimes the aftercare seemed more intimate than the act itself. He took his time, making it a sensual ritual. The smell of sandalwood soap mingled with other low and earthy scents. “Good?” He tossed the cloth in the direction of the bathroom.

“Real good,” Evan replied, nearly boneless as he let Seth maneuver him until they were both under the covers. Seth drew Evan against him, letting Evan rest his head against his shoulder and wrapping his arms around him.

They would inevitably get too warm and move apart, but Seth sensed Evan’s need for contact and was happy to oblige.

“Go to sleep.” Seth kissed the top of Evan’s head. They were the same height, but somehow Evan seemed to be able to make himself seem smaller when he wanted.

Evan was one of the bravest people Seth had ever met. Despite their rocky start, once he had committed to Seth and the hunt for the warlocks, Evan had thrown himself in with his whole heart. He knew his lover’s jitters weren’t second thoughts or a change of heart. Some nights the weight of what they were doing seemed heavier, the ending too far away, the costs frighteningly close. He’d taken refuge in Evan’s arms many of those times himself.

Every time they came up against one of the warlocks, there was the very real possibility they might not walk away. Seth tried not to dwell on that, and for the most part, he was successful. Maybe it was his military training or just his stubborn nature. That didn’t always work, but it served more often than not.

“Shh. Just rest. I’m here. Let me take care of you.”

Evan kissed Seth on the chest. “I love you.”

“Love you too,” Seth replied. “Now go to sleep so we can wake up and boink like bunnies.”

EVAN

Evan madegood on his promise to start the day off with hot, slow sex, a last chance to indulge before the hunt for the warlock became all-consuming.

He was the first through the shower, and by the time Seth joined him, Evan sat at the table with a half-eaten bagel and his second cup of coffee, staring at his laptop.

“Something new?” Seth bent down to steal a kiss as he headed to get a mug.

“Parker’s been researching Swain’s wellness cult and sent a report. Unfortunately, all the gadgets he could build that might be helpful will also violate the Quiet Zone and show up like a sore thumb to the authorities.”

Parker had a gift for re-engineering electronics into pieces useful for the special requirements of what Seth and Evan needed, gleefully invoking memories of theInspector Gadgetcartoons he had loved as a kid.
