“Where’s the guys?’ Cody asks as we follow the guys inside.

“They tried to wait up but they crashed. Katie your boys said to tell you to lock the basement door after yourself.” Katie rolls her lips over her teeth and nods. “I know shit has been hard for you but I just wanted to say I am so fucking proud of you for finishing you English paper and not quitting.” I melt. “Also, Darius told me about Alaska.” My shoulders tense thinking he’s about to fight me on my decision. “I spoke with Mom and Dad and told them about it. They agree with me that this would be good for you.”

“W-what?” I mumble, stunned as hell that he is being so… good about this.

He smiles down at me. “I may not enjoy the sight of you and dickhead together.” Darius snorts beside me but Corv carries on. “But I also know he is a lot of the reason why you are doing so well. I expect your ass on a plane back to CHU to visit me every two months.” I squeal and jump at him. He drops the bags to catch me. I hold him tight and love that my big brother is happy for me.

I place Val and her kid’s bag in the spare room while Leah helps her settle in and tells her where the bathroom is. Val thanks her and tells her that she’ll see her in the morning.
