“How’d we do?” I asked.
“Amazingly. We’ll look at the comments in the morning. But all that social media push to get people there worked like a charm. Nice work, by the way.” Jaxon leaned down and kissed me hard. “I love you.”
I smiled. “I love you.”
“We’re going to do so fucking well. We’ll have a new apartment in no time.”
I moved in with Jaxon several months ago. Apparently, Cueball had enough to cover all the rent, although no one knew what he did for a living. He was always a curious oddball, but one I adored. We’d gotten even closer over the months when I stopped being a shithead.
This apartment was getting way too crowded and cluttered with both of our shit here. We needed more space if we wanted to do this subscription thing.
“Roll over,” he said.
When I did, he gently applied salve on my ass, and then he washed his hands in the kitchen sink, returning with a large glass of water. I sat up as he handed it to me. I gulped down the entire thing, feeling suddenly thirsty.
“They do like the enemies-to-lovers thing. What a brilliant idea you had, Baby.”
I smirked. “I’ve got my moments.”
“That you do. So, what did you think about our first show? Would you want to do it again?”
I wrapped my arms around his neck. “Hmm, have fun sex and get paid for it? I can’t imagine a more perfect way to make money.”
“We just need to try to be consistent and shit. I may not always be able to do it,” he said, reminding me he wouldn’t always feel well.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. It’s not like we’re giving up our other jobs, so we’ve got something to fall back on.”
“True.”
After a relaxing bath, we held each other in bed. My eyes grew heavy, and I yawned. That sort of sexual play took a lot out of me.
“Do you think you ever want to get married and shit?” he suddenly asked out of nowhere. It was something we’d never talked about before.
“I’m not sure that’s me. Look at what happened to my family. We were straight out of some fucking soap opera. I’m not sure I want to relive that shit… not saying you and I would be like that, but…”
“It scares you a little,” he finished for me.
“Yeah.”
“I get it.”
“Why? Do you want to get married one day?”
Jaxon shrugged. “Nah. It’s not that big of a deal.” He kissed my head and pulled me closer. “As long as you stick it out with me, I’ll always be a happy man.”
“I’m never going anywhere.” I sat up and laid on top of him. “No matter what happens to you with your mental health, I’ll always be there to help you through it, to take care of you, and forgive you if I need to. Never doubt that. I never imagined you’d be my forever person, yet here we are.”
He smiled and chuckled. “Here we are. You’re amazing, Aiden. I wouldn’t have gotten through my high and crash without you.”
I frowned because, as I’d gotten to know Jaxon, I knew that wasn’t true. “You’re so much stronger than you think you are. I know it was scary, but you’re doing amazingly. You would’ve gotten through it.”
“My mom didn’t.”
“You’re not your mom.” I combed back his long bangs. “You’re Jaxon Kean, the best fucking human I know. Only a strong person would put up with me and accept me as I am. You did that. I will always love you forever for it.”
“And I’ll always love you forever.”
The End
