I gasp as his chest brushes against my back when he leans forward and reaches for a cup, placing it in front of me, indicating that he too wants a coffee.
"Thank you for fixing it up for me the other night."
I gulp and nod in acknowledgement, not wanting to risk talking at the moment and risking giving away how much his touch and presence affect me.
"Pancakes are done!" Myra states, breaking the moment between us.
I fill his cup and then grab mine and Jaylens, scooting around him and walking over to the breakfast table, ready to devour my food and then rush back up to my room so that I can get away from his intense, spell-inducing aura once I'm finished.
As I start shovelling the fluffy pancakes into my mouth, he sits beside me, his thigh bumping against mine.
"So, what are your plans for today? More decorating?" he asks, catching me off guard.
"No, we're going out today," Jaylen answers, peering around me so that he can look at Kaleb. "Well, I am anyway. Going to meet up with Dominic. Sophia's going back home to see Jess and Aunt Louise."
Kaleb nods his head, taking a sip of his coffee.
This situation seems awkward and I'm unsure of why. There seems to be some sort of tension in the air between these two and I'm not sure I want to be a part of whatever's going on.
I spear one more mouthful of pancakes into my mouth, take a gulp of my coffee, and then excuse myself from the testosterone-filled room.
Chapter Thirty-Six
Kaleb
Iwatch Sophia rush out of the kitchen and once she's disappeared, my eyes settle back on her cousin as he watches me whilst eating his stack of pancakes.
"Got something to ask me?"
He shakes his head, continuing to stare at me.
I raise a brow but decide to focus on my food and not give him the reaction he wants.
His staring won't bother me in the slightest. I'm used to having eyes on me, although they usually watch me because they're fearful, not curious.
"Does your brother know that you sneak into his wife's room almost every night?" he asks.
I smirk against the rim of my coffee cup. All it took was a few minutes of silence and me ignoring him for him to ask what he'd been wondering.
"Jericho knows plenty."
He frowns and narrows his eyes.
"That's not exactly an answer."
I shrug in response as I hear my brother's keys jangling around as he locks the hallway door and begins his way towards the kitchen we're sitting in.
"Surely he must have an issue with his brother sneaking around his house and going into his wife's room at night time," Jayelen adds, clearly unaware of my brother's approach.
"Don't have an issue with it at all," Jericho states, walking into the room and startling Jaylen. His fork drops onto his plate, and he turns in surprise to meet Jericho's cold, hard stare. "If you must know, King, I have had a conversation with Sophia and I've also had one with my brother. They both understand my feelings and thoughts on the topic, which is all that matters. They're both adults and welcome to do as they please."
Jaylen nods his head as his eyes dart around the room.
"Of course. Sorry for prying," he says, pushing his plate away from him and standing up. "I better get going and check if Sophia's ready."
He walks past Jericho, exiting the room and once he's gone, my brother's mask slips and he smirks at me, showing his amusement at the situation.
"What was that about?"
